Do fans want the Canes to lose?

I'd never in **** root for the Canes to lose. I understand the mindset of those who believe losses would hasten a coaching change, but I can't bring myself to root against the kids on the field.

At the point we're at right now...nothing could be more damaging than a couple wins down the stretch. Any additional win from this point increases the possibility Golden might get one more year. That's one more year of underachieving, mediocrity, and further damage. That 2016 class that looks so great right now? What's worse...firing the guy now and having time to make a good hire and win those kids back or waiting until after NEXT year to inevitably fire him anyways and then not have time to change some of those kids minds. It's asinine when you really think about it.

I know some of you are hesitant to grasp this reality....but it's the equivalent of staring at a once-in-a-generation QB propect who's scheduled to go first overall....your team needs to simply lose their last game to guarantee the #1 pick...

And then you go out and win that last game. That's shoot yourself in the face kinda stuff.

Look at like medicine. It tastes like crap, but it's good for you. That's where we're at right now in terms of losses.

I'm another one who will never pull for the Canes to lose. Golden and company will find a way to lose enough games to be sent packing anyway. Maybe not this year, but they aren't long for the world in Coral Gables if the big boosters are already ticked off.

He won 9 games last season, He put together a pretty good recruiting class, and He still wanted to bounce. I can see the same scenario playing out after this season. Look, we've seen this scenario before with another Jersey/NE jagoff regime, the Parcells regime in Miami...Golden is just a continuation of those clowns. In summary, we can still have a winning season, coupled with a Golden exit...win-win...the two don't have to be exclusive.

I support Miami; therefore, I want VT to beat Al Golden. Season is done. I am done with this staff. Fire Folden!

Those who support the banner are akin to the Anti-**** Germans during WWII. They want Hitler to lose to get Germany back on the right track.

So those who support Golden are *****.

The only people that benefit from wins right now are the Srs on the team. Everyone else benefits more from Golden being gone; fans and players. The Jrs who are being wasted away by the staff like Howard and Bush get one more chance to be properly used next year. Chad Thomas can actually get developed into the beast he should be. The list of players that this staff has cost a lot of money goes on and on.

Any situation where Al Golden is at Miami next year is a horrible thing for the program.

short term goals vs. long term goals.

small picture vs. big picture.

big picture and long term success are much more desired.

We want Al gone, by any means necessary.

I moved to virginia and have to live near these peckerwoods. I'd rather we lose today, than continue to get trounced annually by a second rate school like VT. Also, in the best years, VT are second tier and they OWN us over the last 20 years. Its a **** disgrace.

To be clear, I'm not rooting for VT, but I won't be mad if they win.

I guess my stance on this is that it's hard for me to root against my favorite team but if they were to lose I wouldn't be mad. If they win I'm happy for the players like Duke and etc. If they lose I'm happy that Al is closer and closer to being sent packing.

I like to see the players do well and make plays. However, at the end of the night, I want VT to have a higher number on the scoreboard. It's of the utmost importance that we lose this game.

I keep seeing everywhere on this board people who are "die hard fans" picking the canes to get blown out tonight. While it's not out of the realm of possibility (nothing is with this team), a lot of things are in the Canes favor to win tonight or at least keep it close. Weather isn't terrible for this time of year with temperatures in the high 40's with clear skies and almost no wind, Luther Maddy and Chase Williams are out so Duke and Yearby should have their way and VT isn't a GT or Nebraska that runs 90% of the time so our defense shouldn't be AS bad. Even every ESPN analyst picked us to win tonight.

The coaching staff, especially on defense, has looked inept and I don't trust them to stop anyone, but the level of doubt and pessimism on this board is beyond belief. My question is: are you fans deliberately rooting for the 'Canes to lose big tonight? For either an "I told you so" moment or just so Al getting fired becomes a reality?

The program is nowhere near where it needs to be and can't seem to get serious momentum going in the right direction, but why direct all the passion towards negativity instead of winning? I love that fans care enough to demand change, but that is different than deliberately rooting for your team to lose, especially in college where players decide where they want to go. A dominant offensive performance on national TV could help sway some South Florida natives to UM over UF.

What we're wanting to lose - is Golden.
