before i get 100 responses, i get it. golden will be here in 2015.

my question is are head coaches ever fired after bowl games? don't really feel like researching it and figured you guys are pretty good at knowing this stuff off the top of your heads. i keep hearing that you dont fire a coach after a bowl game because it's too close to signing day and the new coach would be helpless in recruiting...which i understand. obviously it makes more sense to fire coaches midseason, the earlier the better if you already have the decision made. just curious if in the past any major programs had fired their head coaches afte a poor bowl performance, or if schools really just never fire coaches after bowl games. TIA

Firings do happen, although they are more rare than after the regular season. More often, you see new openings due to coaches changing schools or moving to the NFL. So, there's still a chance something comes open that entices Folden to leave Miami. Fingers crossed!

No, not usually real "football schools" fire coaches the minute the season is over, use an interim for the bowl game

Cpaches are usually fired by now. Never seen a coach fired after the bowl game bc of how late the bowl season goes along w the recruiting deadlines

I think I have seen it very rarely but usually it is after the season with an iterim coach. Now these coaches that are fired after the season and not replaced before the bowl usually the school is going to try and target and NFL coach since you cannot talk to them until the season is over.

Coaches have been hired after the New Year. I think Saban took over at Alabama in early January.

If the bowl game is UGLY and Golden STILL refuses to make staff changes, the BOT MIGHT pull the trigger.

Usually .. Assistant Coaches make moves. I think there's an annual Coaches convention usually the week of the national Champ. Where a lot of Networking goes on.

If Anything - which is probably a snowballs in **** chance - a change is going to be made... it'll be after this with probably an assistant....

Goldie isn't leaving this year, but you can sure as **** he'll put out some feelers for next year when the new pres says see ya...

.....hopefully

Can't think of many off the top of my head.

I want Golden out but James has publicly said he will be our coach next year. That being said, I think there is a slight chance that could change after the bowl if we lose.

James said he leaves the decision of the staff up to the coach which in my mind is what I would do if I was an AD. If you hire the right people you shouldn't have to worry or micro manage. IMO and what it sounded like from his interview yesterday is that James will have a meeting with Golden after the bowl game. He will go over the season with him and try to get on the same page as Al or listen to Al's plan of action for the next year. If James thinks at that point there should be changes and Al doesn't agree there may be a chance at a removal. Al is going to have to think long and hard after that game what he is going to do. I don't think he will make any changes.

The question is will James have the balls to step? Something along these lines "well I thought you would be smarter or better than that and I didn't want to have to step in bc I beleive the coach should have authority of the staff but I'm sorry Al, we are not going to accepting we'll get it fixed. Staff changes need to be made. You can either make the necessary changes are you are out too."

Most generally fire before so that they can salvage recruiting and not miss out on some of the coaches available.
