This may dominate the discussion following this season (spring/fall practice), but I’d like to weigh in here.
+ Lowe is more physically talented but is hurt.
+ Scroggins has been earning his way up the ladder thru hard and extra work with Bain, Taylor, and Mesidor.
+ This is also available to Lowe, but he’s not there.
He will have to OUTWORK Scroggins to play ahead of him. The sooner he starts the better.
Do we know the nature of his injury? Dislocation or separation? Torn labrum/rotator?
I've had all of the above plus a torn bi-cep at the shoulder, sprained AC, and dislocated clavicle at the sternum. If it was only a rotate, he could be playing. Labrum, depends on how bad it was. Bi-Cep- spring at best. The fact that D$ said he could play but isn't likely to play says it was a "minor" shoulder surgery.
I'm not looking for him to replace Bain/Mesidor. Just getting another elite pass rusher in the room helps for scout team looks and back-ups getting snaps late the game if up by a few scores.
