Look we all know we need more bodies at the dline with the losses we are taking.... but hear me out for a second. Do you ever sit back and think that we rotate the dline guys maybe a bit more than we should? Remember it’s a luxury that we were able to rotate that many guys but it isn’t necessary. Clemson doesn’t do it, neither does ncstate like that. We will have enough guys

I can see your point. My personal thoughts are we need depth and lots of rotation to identify playmakers on the DL. For all the potential talent, the only proven guy is Joe Jackson. He's sustained 2 solid seasons. Everyone else is a question mark in being able to be highly productive for 12-14 games.

Joe Jackson - Jon Garvin - Gregory Rousseau
Gerald Willis - Nesta Silvera?
Pat Bethel - Jon Ford - Tyreic Martin
Demetrius Jackson - Scott Patchan - Andrew Chatfield?

Can someone post who we got coming back on the Dline, so we can get a clearer picture.

De
Joe Jackson(stud, plain and simple)
Demetrius Jackson(played like the best de when he was healthy this season)
Jon Garvin(talented young player)
Scott Patchan(love his get off)
Chatfield(?)
Greg Rousseau

Dt
Willis
Bethel
Ford
Silvera(family loves Miami and Richt- cane period) looking like the top dt at the army game
Briggs or Carson?
Martin?

DE - Joe Jackson, Djackson, Garvin, Patchan
DT - Willis, Bethel, Ford, Martin

Not including the 2018 recruits.

Starters (If Willis actually suits up for us in the fall) look to be stout. 2nd unit has lots of talent but almost no game experience outside of Garvin. 3rd unit is true freshman. We could really really use a JC DT to rotate in at both spots like Moten did this year.

Maybe because we didn't have a consistent offense to keep the defense off the field long enough to recover fully is the reason we had to always rotate on the Dline. Being able to score on explosive plays is great, but we need to be able to mix it in with long sustained drives to keep the defense fresh. Just a guess

When you have depth you use it, especially early in games. when 4th quarter roles around in tight ball games, than you play your guys to finish and hopefully win.

I'm hopeful that one of Bethel or Ford really steps up their play in the spring because at their current play, if one of them is the starter, we're in deep **** up the middle.

Depth always looks better in list format:

Joe Jackson
Gerald Willis
Demetrius Jackson
Jonathan Garvin
Jon Ford
Pat Bethel
Scott Patchan
Nesta Silvera
Gregory Rousseau
Tyreic Martin
Andrew Chatfield
Dorian Gerald
Dennis Briggs
Daniel Carson
Michael Thompson

Not getting Michael Thompson- looks like a done deal to mizzou. Gerald would be good get but he has to visit first

Also, the defense can't stop anyone on third down, getting themselves off the field.

Seriously... our DT depth is horrible. Period. No way to sugar coat that. One major injury to DT room and we are toast. Unless we add Carson or Briggs, then it gets better. But we are still talking about two kids who are not elite...at least not yet.
