Some of you are cool but for all you Dooms day preppers that obviously dont know jack about team building Please STFU. Coaching is not bad and depth was bad. The team was not deep enough along the defensive line and lbs plus injuries to the secondary did not help. This class will change that. Cthomas, Harris, Jackson, Moten, TV (he is coming) will all play and redshirt Jenkins, Playing time for Wyche and Hert added to DT rotation. AQM and Mcord (AQM will grow and start while Mcord needs to learn how to play LB or just be a pass rushing specialist. Chick and Pierre (will be servicable but no studs). Ufomba, Earl Moore, or Hamilton (one of these guys will step up and start next to TV. DL looks a lot better than last year. Perryman, FIGS, KIRBY (FINALLY SHOULD BE READY) ARMBRISTER, Grace (should be ready). Young and Owens adding depth. LBs sound better already. Healthy Bush, Seasoned Howard, Gunter, AC, Burns (READY TO START), JENKINS is a BACK UP because he isTO SLOW so they start Carter. Hester adds depth and will back up Carter before you know it. Now this defense has depth and talent. No last minute filler pick ups here. People that thought we should of been beating FSU, Louisville, or Duke last year and blame the coaches are blind. And for those that think Kaaya is going to beat out Olsen are on crack. Kaaya is Redshirting. Oh and watch the secondary for little Ray to progress along with Corn. We wont go win all our games but ten is a good start to winning it all in 2015 or 2016.

This is the coaching versus talent thread that will decide the other 571.

I can feel it.

I agree, I have alot more hope with this upcoming year's DL. Porter, Robinson and Renfroe were ok, but this year we will have experience and depth. I like Moore, Pierre and Hamilton when they play 15-20 snaps a game. I would have HATED to see them out there for more than 50% of the snaps though. So let them come in and focus on one thing and get them back out! thats how the best DL's in the nation work.

OP makes an excellent point but overlooks one more important factor. All of those guys gotta spend a lot more time on the bench while the offense stays on the field more. Three-and-out kills any defense!

you are overlooking one important factor… We won't have to face the best 3rd down defender in all of college football anymore…… Stephen Morris

What do you like about Moore and Hamilton? They have barely played? By contrast, at least going into last year Porter and Robinson had a ton of playing time. in fact, many on here touted a healthy Porter as the NG savior we desperately needed to make the defense work.

This year's guys are a blank page at best.

OP makes an excellent point but overlooks one more important factor: The coaching staff does not exploit the true strengths of our defensive personnel

FIFY

our defensive personnel had strengths….? Nice, didn't know

By and large the majority of the kids on this roster (even many that Golden recruited) have played a more aggressive style of defense throughout the majority (if not all) of their football careers. We've hindered that with this soft zone crap.

You figure a defensive-minded head coach making more than $2M a year could make some adjustments and play to their strengths. Guess not.

Oh and did I just imagine Tyriq McCord lining up against a WR in the Rustled Bowl?

no you did not, but our defense still had no units that can be considered strengths. And when that is the case, coaching is suppose to modify its scheme to create opportunities where there aren't… that never happened.

That being said, Yeezus should be shot in the face

A team that returned virtually EVERY starter from the previous year (and yet got worse on defense in every category in conference play) is supposed to improve from year to year. That didn't happen, and with the talent on them team there is no excuse EVER to lose to Duke EVER in Football.

I'm done now....sigh
