We also have to be practical on these transfer/JuCo rentals. Who would you rather take, Wilson (who was injured in a previous year, and who is now transferring with a couple of years of eligibility left...or 4-star Chestnut, who has more years to play? I'm tired of the "but he's better than anyone on our current roster" nonsense that people have tried to use with Wilson and/or Francois.

All good points, then my point becomes that the only way we could even conceivably take him is through some blueshirt type manipulation which is probably extremely difficult to begin with, and burdened with NCAA oversight/approval.

So we have to twist ourselves into a pretzel to get a guy that might play only 2 years MAX or less (due to possible lingering injury), and for whom there is no scholarship room - RIGHT NOW. End of story.

If he does indeed move on, UGA will have Webb, now a senior, at STAR as well as sophomore Tyrique Stevenson.


Some interesting chatter on that UGA site. They think he left because Ringo is pushing for time , along with Stevenson. and it seems they are currently sitting at at least 1, maybe 2 schollies over 85.... (with wilson gone)

Yeah. But then other "insiders" tell us that IC rules are a "myth".

I'm not sure what people think the definition of "kick the tires" is. Maybe we have a conversation with Wilson that is info-gathering. "Who is your daddy and what does he do?" and "Why are you leaving UGa?" It may be a ploy to show how much we love the SoFla kids (even if we don't have room for them all). Who knows, maybe we are trying to help the kids get better offers with a "UM is interested" competition. Perhaps it is also a cautionary tale, "hey, look at all the SoFla kids who have wanted to come home, but we were picky and only took Issiah Walker."

Whether it gets to the level of serious recruitment, offer, acceptance, figuring out where the IC will count...I highly doubt it reaches that point, based purely on a numbers issue. Look, I always like to hedge my bets, but I can only see this happening if the NCAA makes significant one-time (Covid) or long-term (The Rise of The Portal) rules changes.

All good. Look, there's a difference between "we haven't been completely honest with HS recruits, we actually happen to have a spare IC that we were saving for a rainy day and/or we know how to work the blueshirt rules" vs. "it's a myth".

Im aware and you are right don’t get me wrong. I shouldn’t have said myth that’s the wrong word but I do think their is lot more gray area in the rules purposely that aren’t discussed

I'm a fan of Ivey. He showed flashes that he can at least be a serviceable starter. But his struggles were waaaay too much higher. And ALWAYS at the worst times lol
