Disappearing receivers

I can't remember more than a play or two when our receivers had significant separation. Most of the time, Kaaya was threading needles, throwing into crowds. Sure, part of that is scheme but how much is it about route-running? I mean, guys like Waters and Scott could barely get free, from what I could see.This is why I'm inclined to cut Kaaya slack.
Remember those cool preseason videos of Beard training the wrs? What happened?

I agree on the original post - Brad has done a great job considering zero space to throw the ball --- and my guess is that the DBs at FSU, Va Tech and Clemson might be a tad more talented than Cincy
 
Some of it is route combos. There isn't ever any routes/formations that confuse the defense. It's just here is a basic route go try and get open.
Now our own defense gets confused every single game on who is supposed to cover who.
 
I'm sure our receivers would look better and be serviceable under a real cozching staff, but the bottom line is that outside of Coley (who may or may not have disappeared into an alternate dimension), Golden has recruited a bunch of possession wide receivers. I laughed out loud when one of the announcers called Herb Waters our "best deep threat" on Thursday. Not because it was false, but because Herb Waters isn't a deep threat or even really a threat. We've got a ton of middling "talent" and wide receiver is no exception. These guys aren't Miami caliber.
 
I think we're feeling the absence of Dorsett, who stretched the field.
Of all the draftees, he was our greatest loss.
And, in the last two years, we haven't recruited a single speedy deep threat.
 
Part scheme, part not a lot of real dynamic WRs to stretch the field, part lack of separation, etc
 
Said this in another thread, they trying to find the next Kelvin Benjamin. That was Coleys guy. A big guy who is a big play threat and is a red zone nightmare. Problem is we keep getting Greg Carrs.

Guys like Isiah Mckenzie are not "Miami" type WRs anymore. Smh.

Not sure we really know much about our players with Coley just throwing random route trees together and running players right into coverage. Even Bowling Green guys can get open once in a while when the design is right.

That said, there's a whole lot more of Muhsin Muhammad (plodder possession types) in these guys than there is TY Hilton.

The running backs and tight ends are the strength of the offense. Miami's offensive personnel is set up for a ground and pound run game with a fb and multiple tight ends. But instead they are a spread offense with 1 rb and 3, 4 wr's. Coley sucks.
 
I didn't understand why Berrios came in late in the game. If it was ok to use him, why didn't we let him play throughout the game? Either he's well enough to play or he's not.

I swear its almost as if Golden hates speed. Our WRs are pedestrian.
