Highlights Dirty Hit Or Not - Stephens vs Moore

This talented USC defense is 99th ranked in scoring defense and 75th in total defense. These late hits, embarrassing reactions and senseless penalties, are a symptom of a host of defensive problems that need to be fixed. This undisciplined hit and this overall embarrassing defense would never exist under our DC Heatherman.
 
Only reason it’s being classified as “dirty” is cuz Moore got knocked out the game. Targeting and ejection, fine whatever, that’s the rule. But if Moore pops back up it’s not classified as “dirty”. Moore slid late, and was a runner.
 
When I watch it in slow motion, it appears to me that the defender is going into his tackling motion before Dante gives himself up. That being said, the defender likely could have let up a bit mid lunge, but instead he went all out on Moore’s head. So, I’m not sure if it was “dirty”, and I’m not really sure what the “correct” call should have been.

The celebration afterwards, as Dante’s body is twitching on the ground, is the part that then transcends the play entirely, and makes me question the defender as a human being. It felt truly disgusting to me
 
It was more the laughs, high fives, and atta boys on the sidelines as a player layed unconscious on the field that bothered me.

Otherwise it’s football.
 
That hit reminded me of the hit Kiko Alonso had on Joe Flacco in the Dolphins vs Ravens game on thursday night in 2017.

What ****ed me, and a bunch of people off, is that #8 was celebrating while Dante was in a fencing response, and no one on USC tried to tell #8 it was a dumb idea because he just himself ejected. You don't celebrate a player in a fencing response because you stupidly got yourself kicked out of the game.

Lincoln Riley teams are always soft and lack discipline, especially on defense, and that's why he'll never win a national championship.
 
He was about 5 yards away when Moore started going down. Dirty play. He was looking to hurt Dante, and you can see that in his reaction too.
 
I didn’t think it was that dirty. It was definitely a little dirty but this is Top 25 Football. Moore slid too late. What was absolutely disgusting was the celebrating by USC. F*ck all them hoes
 
I was listening to this game on the drive back to central Florida after the Canes game. ESPN radio was using the Oregon Ducks radio feed. The announcers went on and on for minutes about how they were sick to their stomach and that criminal charges should be filed against USC dude.

Watching it now, it kinda looks like Dante Moore FAFO'd by not getting into his slide fast enough. At the 3 second mark of the video the DB is within two feet of the QB and the QB still has not touched the ground yet. It looks like a penalty so its gonna be a penalty, but its nothing like the duck ******* made it seem.


And @Empirical Cane - You'll keep your Lingerie Football League slander to yourself. That was the most legit women's sports league ever. Those chicks got after it.

QBs keep trying to squeeze as much as they can out of the play with the idea that the slide rule is a shield that will protect them.

It’s like a few years ago when Pickett faked the slide knowing the defender would be playing soft to avoid hitting him.

Maybe it’s dirty. But the whole “you can’t touch me so I’m going to get even closer to you to get even more yards” goes against the spirit of the game.

That’s a good point. I didnt think it was dirty but with the reaction it’s hard to defend the guy. F him

The old saying “the coverup is worse than the crime” is a good parallel here. If the defender had shown genuine concern, he gets the one game suspension and it goes down as an unfortunate play. But how he acted after the play made the whole thing look much more sinister. I’d throw the book at him for being an absolute douche. Moore could have been paralyzed or worse and the defender was laughing about it with his teammates.

The reason this looks much worse isn't the hit. It's the players reaction after the hit.

Had this same exact play occured and the player gets up normal, there's little outrage.
 
Dirty hit for sure bc of actions afterwards. Hope he's ok I don't wish any injury on any player. Ironically it could help them letting rialo play bc moore has not played well this season imo
 
Dirty hit. Moore didn't slide late. That was a standard slide every QB makes. The antics after were the cherry on top of the Lincoln Riley failure at USC. USC is in a perilous position with UCLA on the rise.
