The crop of defensive backs out West in the 2028 class is remarkably deep, and Edwards appears to be one of the marquee names early on as the pecking order begins to settle.
Although it may be early, one offer in particular has resonated with the standout from NFL factory Gardena (Calif.) Serra.
"
Miami, for sure right now," Edwards told 247Sports following Serra's victory against L.A. Hamilton last week. "It was really amazing to get that offer. I went out there and had a lot of self-belief and faith in myself. I knew I had to compete against some of the best, and I did what I had to do at camp."
Edwards is eyeing the Oct. 17 game against
Florida State as his return trip to watch the Hurricanes in action.
Assistant coach Will Harris' connections in Southern California could be a key component as this recruitment progresses, especially since Edwards is familiar with many other Miami targets in the area.
The moment the Canes offered is still a major memory for the 6-foot-2, 170-pound Edwards who is beginning to rise on many recruiting boards throughout the region.

Mario Cristobal pulled me to the side and talked to me about what they saw," Edwards said. "Then I got a chance to meet with all the coaches in there and they all told me I had the offer. It was a great moment. I was very happy and, honestly, I was just proud of myself to be able to perform at a showcase like that. I am looking forward to getting back out there and building that relationship."
Edwards clocked a 10.76 time at the 66th annual Mt. San Antonio College Relays back in April.
