Spoke to a friend about this yesterday. Problem is that if Richt keeps losing and this program slides, going to Miami from Syracuse would look like a lateral move. When eventually one of the bottom tier SEC schools will pay way more for him than we will.

What I wouldn’t give for 1 year of Babers, Briles & Manny Diaz, pipe dream for sure, but one can only dream at this point.

Syracuse to Miami will never be a lateral move as long as the African-American Miami neighborhoods live, breathe, and die football and Caribbean immigrants play football. Neither of those look to be stopping anytime soon. Additionally, Orlando/Tampa has more talent than the whole state of NY.

The SEC hires coaches with SEC experience, preferably under Saban. No coach with a sound mind will choose a low tier SEC school over Miami.

We set our sights way too high on corches. We won't be able to out bid the big schools for corches like Babers.

We have to find young up and comers. Look for guys that are having great success at non-P5 schools. That's our only chance.
I'd go with an NFL coordinator, worked well in the past..

Don't do this to yourselves. It'll only make it worse.

As opposed to what? I already know these dudes can't see the forrest from the trees. I spread information so Dino Babers can become the #1 'Canes fan candidate, pray he gets an interview when the time comes, and hope our admin makes the right decision. I can't control if someone else hires Babers or when we part ways with Richt, but I know those days will eventually come.

Unlike talk of head coaches like Leach and Kiffin, OC's like Briles, Babers is a name that makes sense in a lot of ways. However, I think that should we ever even get to the point of real discussion on this, there are a couple things to consider:

1) While UM vs. Syracuse is a no-brainer in terms of national prominence, does a coach who has seen mediocre ACC teams beat us maybe think, "there is something bigger wrong that I can't fix?" You hope the man has confidence to tackle anything, but a fair question. Watching us continually get beat by these crap squads doesn't help the "fallen giant" perception.

2) As Luke will love to dredge up, there were undertones of shall we say "resistance" associated with Randy's tenure. Are those still issues and does that get ignored by Babers?

And @KyleLiburd while I would love Babers/Diaz together, I have to think that unless we pony up big time and Diaz has zero/ittle head coach aspirations, there is little chance he remains the DC with another head coach.

Thank god we sniffed the top last year, keeps the pilot light lit for the next coach.

1. Good points. I know nothing about how Babers views Miami, but I'm banking on location (he grew up in San Diego/Hawaii), legacy, money, and history that Babers would leave for Syracuse. He quickly left his previous two head coaching positions and has bounced all around the country. I'm hoping he would see Miami as the final stop on his cfb tour.

2. I'm not sure, but think Babers will get it done here from an Xs and Os standpoint.

3. I'd agree that a DC staying on is unlikely, but I'm looking at this as a special case. Manny Diaz grew up a Miami fan, loves an aggressive Miami 4-3, his dad was the mayor of Miami, and he grew up in Miami. I'm assuming he doesn't want to leave for a HC job, but he has a chance to cement a strong legacy in the 305. Time will tell.

HAHA! Are you guys delusional??? What has babers ever won??? NAME ME THE BOWLS AND CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS GUY HAS WON. I'll wait. He runs an high tempo gun'em offense with speedy skill position players and a decent QB in Dungey and the skill pos players make dungey look better than he really is. I would even still take kosi or even rosier over dungey any day.

Yeah Cool syracuse is putting up alot of offense but now do yourself a favor go look at the numbers their defense gives up! NO THANKS BABERS IS NOT THE ANSWER FOR MIAMI! Keep diaz and give richt another 2 years at least.

Im from syracuse i can speak on this I see the media and news on the team daily.
