Not a fan of Omar Thornton defending shifty slot receivers. It's too easy of a matchup to identify and exploit. I was always unclear of the fit. He was great in the box at Boston College, but not great covering the slot. That’s what made Keionte Scott so elite. He was great in run support as well as coverage.
I was wondering as a counter if we could use more dime packages with Thornton essentially taking Chase Smith’s spot. I think he’s physical enough in run support, and he’s a great blitzer.
That would free up Fitz to play nickel until perhaps Ewald is ready.
Run defense has been great, so I'd be interested to see base dime against 3WR sets.
