Golden had at least a decent offense during his tenure. Manny inherited a defense that was adapted to a 3-4 and he ran the exact opposite scheme. So the staff had to work on S&C and in his first year, Diaz had the defense in the top 25. Two years later, it was the #2 ranked total defense in the nation. Golden's scheme worked against Cinicinnatti and UNC because we out talented them by a good margin. Once he faced a team with equal or better talent (FSU at the time), his defense shows its glaring holes. That was his m.o. in Temple, and it was the same thing here.
