Different view on Diaz

First off I'll start by apologizing for another Manny Diaz thread. With that being said, how about we all take a chill pill and just be happy for the man and his family? The man is extremely deserving of this promotion and if anything should be grateful for the 3 years he gave us completely revamping the worst defense in Canes history since our glory years started. Was he a good coach? Yes, he was special but this is what happens when you make good hires, they leave for bigger and better things. That is a good thing as if you look at the Golden staff, which we all complained about relentlessly and what they are doing with themselves now which isn't much. When we were clicking we'd have coaches picked off right and left and next man up was the mindset. Bunch of soft shouldered selfish fans here devaluing the moment Manny Diaz has worked his entire career for. Of course he will be missed but there are other DC's out there that can be successful here as they are walking into a talented roster and Richt paid Diaz big money for Miami and will do it again to replace him. Best of luck to Manny at Temple

Not sure where this coming from. A lot of fans seem to understand Manny's decision and are content with it. He had a successful defensive unit and capitalizing. I know I'm not mad at him. The anger is coming from how the overall program is ran by Richt and Blake James. That's where the real vitriol is coming from. Anyone that thinks Manny should've stayed with Richt and the sinking ship needs to have their head examined.

"The program is dead", "Fire Blake James for not being able to keep him", etc......

And that's why a host of current juniors on defense are going to be playing their final game as a Hurricane, come December 27th. OUCH! And who could blame these early departure Hurricanes. Heck, they KNOW the offense is going to SUCK, again, next season. He!!, Richt and good ol' boy Stacy are now going hard after TWO-STAR prep offensive linemen and grad-transfers from some UNKNOWN, non-power 5 programs and what not.:zczkqmritjdsoaq.jpg:

It'd be an entirely different situation if we were winning and that Richt wasn't showing a lot of parallels to what Golden did. Saban loses coordinators seemingly every year, but he retools and keeps on ticking. Manny was the one positive about this program, and he's now gone. That's probably why fans are in an uproar. But yes, you're going to have your unreasonable contingent of fans in every fanbase.

very fair point and agree with you. there is way more talent on this defensive staff than Golden ever had so expect to lose more and if we do lose like Saban than it means we are hiring well which is a positive. the program is a hot mess and our defense was the one bright spot we actually have so when the leader of that leaves I completely understand the reaction from fans. my post was focusing more of the human element side focus than selfish fan reaction that is going to always exist.
 
Certainly happy for him, I'm sure he ws incredibly frustrated that they only went 7-5 with a historically good D. It is the right move for him personally because it is safer than trying to replicate a top 5 defense 3 years in a row.

I expect him to be a HC at a P5 school in 2-4 years for sure.

If you accept that Diaz is an ambitious guy, then no matter how much of a ***** how this year was the time to go is right now. This is his first Top 10 defense. He is now a hot commodity. Any step backwards makes him less so next year. Taking the Temple job is low risk actually. The last 4 head coaches have all moved on to Power 5 head coaching jobs using Temple as a stepping stone.

The last four Temple coaches parlayed the job into a P5 job. Golden to Miami. Addazio to BC. Rhule to Baylor. Geoff Collins to GT. And you're threshold for success is somewhere in the realm of winning 60% of your games. Seems like a good place to learn and parlay it into another gig after 2-3 seasons.

If you don't mind I'll wait until I hear from those Juniors that they are leaving. Some of you fans act like your insiders and mind readers. No one knows who the next DC is and maybe it's a guy that the players may want to stick around for. Especially with a 2019 schedule that is mediocre which will give them a chance to go out on top instead of going out on a 7-5 record.

Its also most likely in their economic interests to stay and play another year. Moving up rounds means real money and the "get to the second contract" theory has been a complete fail for the last several Miami guys that left early.

Agree. I guess I could see a coordinator considering staying if he’s close to a ship, but you’re most likely correct.

Set your bias aside for a minute and realize Richt has actually done a lot of good things for Miami minus the offense this year. I have zero doubts that Richt will bring in a very good DC.

As you said, coaches got picked up for clicking. People still long for Jedd Fisch. Meanwhile, Clemson can retain Venables because of the deep pockets. I think the complaints originate for a systemic problem and that problem is high expectations with low budget.

The context of my post was geared primarily towards Manny's decision to leave and why fans that are finding fault with Manny needed to stop.

In terms of Richt, where am I wrong? An IPF was built - cool. In terms of the on-field product, it's about as worst as I can recall. His offense is similar to Golden's defense.

Wish Manny well in his new HC job, after a rocky start undeniable that he helped Canes get to where we are now. Canes and Richt did pay Manny big money, but more impoetantly gave him the opportunity to be at Miami where he could succeed. People tend to forget that he was struggling mighty at La. Tch after failing at Texas and Miss ST. Miami gave him an opportunity for which he is grateful and he gave Miami 3 good years.
