Difference in this game was the 10 point special teams swing

Miami had all of the momentum before that blocked punt.

All of it.

Indiana STILL hasn’t figured out how to pass protect against Miami in the second half.
The blocked punt was brutal. It's a credit to the fight on this team that we didn't get blown out after it. Special teams as a whole was a real nut punch. 2 penalties on KO returns, missed FG, and gave away 7 points on the block.

Watch the tape my friend, Baumann let the guy go right by him. That block punt was 10000% on 87!
He sure did. Bauman gave ridiculously lazy effort trying to block his guy, no doubt. However Joyce always seems to take a step or two more than is necessary to his right before booting the ball. He literally helped close the difference with the guy who ended up blocking it because he faded right towards him before trying to kick. He’s done it all season long and had close calls in the playoffs vs both TAM and OSU because if it.

I’ll concede that Bauman was mostly to blame for the block though. Just stuck his arm out and barely touched the IU defender as he ran by. Inexcusable against a team as proficient in blocking punts as IU is, and right on our own goal line to boot. Guy has been a complete disaster this year

Genuinely don't get why OJ was taken out... Am I trippin or did he like not even play in the 4th quarter?

Mario needs to make Special Teams Personal. That was the difference in the game, blocked punt, missed field goal and several penalties on kick offs. Yes, I know we can point the finger and several other things but that is mostly football.

No ******* reasons for Beck to throw that ******* ball. Plenty of time and already on their side of the field.

Even if he hits Marion and scores quickly, you are giving the Heisman winner 40 seconds to get into FG range.

Why not look for Toney first ? Or a route to the sidelines to stop the clock?

Get the ball to the 20, with 40 seconds to work.

I know the blocked punt killed us. But Dawson is a real problem, when it comes to starting off well. Remember we scored, then Dawson had 2 3 and outs, then the blocked punt. If he had taking some time off the clock on those drives it’s a different game.
Dawson needs to go.

You can’t put that game on Beck.

That’s was on the special teams tonight.

They’ve been trying to lose one all playoffs and they finally did it.
I’m a huge Beck fan, which is why this hurts to say. A lot of this one falls on him.

I was actually really confident in him because of how he was playing. He straight up outplayed Mendoza by a good margin. He was clearly the better QB on the field. The way he was driving the ball, going 70–80 yards for touchdowns, I really thought this was his moment.

And then… the same stuff shows up again. Questionable decisions at the worst possible time.

Like bro, you haven’t completed that throw in three seasons. Why are we still trying it? That’s the part that kills me. The talent is there, the confidence is there, but the decision-making just keeps getting in the way.

I agree with the last part.

They haven’t connected on that play all year and last night wasn’t the time to try it.

You expect a better decision from a 24yr old QB with 47 starts.

Mostly to blame, yeah. But Joyce did have more than enough time to get a punt off.

He takes way longer than the prior punter. Honestly, it's a miracle it didn't happen before last night.

Pretty sure Indiana blocked a punt in the Oregon game too. Should have put the special teams guys on alert

Come on... Bauman didn't even attempt to block that guy. He squares that dude up and we win the game but for some reason he just let him go by so he could block no one.

I agree. I'm not excusing Bauman . he never even turned around to see the punt blocked. Total failure by him. No sense of awareness.

That and the two dropped passes made him a liability. I can understand why Beck didn't choose to throw to him on that last play.
