When Miami built the BUC and the fieldhouse, they demonstrated an objective commitment to basketball. The BUC opened in 2003. Since then both men's' and women's' hoops have reached new heights while moving from the Big East to a more difficult basketball conference. The growth is no coincidence. On the other hand, Donna destroyed the orange bowl in 2007 and our football coach currently makes less than what Larry Coker was making during the 2002 season. I ask, is Donna making less now than she did in 2002? Is any professor? What about staff members? The answer is obviously no. Not surprisingly, the football team has steadily declined. The solution is not a new coach or a practice bubble (what a joke). It is simple take an objective measure that shows a true financial commitment to the program and fund a stadium. Until that step is taken, keep expecting 6 to 9 win seasons to be the norm. Hopefully the new president will have a vision and realize that making a financial commitment to football will actually help the ENTIRE university.
