Didn’t we almost hire the Kent St head coach?

Lewis took Kent St to two bowl games out of 3 years

Now go look at record before him

If they're on the hot seat it could be a wise move..getting fired could really hurt your career but going and doing well at a major P5 program as a coordinator could jumpstart you again.

Mario got fired from FIU and done pretty well for himself.

Cant fault Candle, he bet on himself his year and is one game away from clinching their division.

Ok according to google

Darrell Hazell lead them to 11 win season in 2012. He left to Purdue and they made a bad hire to replace him with Paul Haynes,

Lewis replaced Haynes and is now in year 5 with a 3-6 record,

We can agree to disagree. I think Lewis is overrated, he has been regularly listed as candidate for P5 jobs (Wisconsin)

How many bowl games did they go to under Haynes? How many MAC Division titles? How many times runner up? Do you watch MAC any??

Go look up Doug Martin record at Kent St.

Im assuming he was a ****** HC who never became HC again?

Just because Kent St has a history of hiring ****** coaches doesn’t mean you have elevate an average coach into something more than he is.

For context, Sean Lewis is no Lance Leipold. Leipold killed it at Buffalo and proved his ability again at Kansas.

Can’t compare them. Leipold had over 100 wins and handful of losses at Wisconsin-Whitewater. That guy can coach!

They play a bunch of big programs every year. 3 of their losses this year are to Oklahoma, Washington, and UGA. It's the same almost every year with 3 games against P5 teams. Last year they went 6-2 in conference.
Let's just sacrifice context in order to make a point.

They did. They also ran the most plays last year. They had Dustin Crum last year and he was a perfect fit for their offense. The new QB this year is meh, so the offense has definitely taken a step, or two, back. I'm a little concerned about Sowder's play calling abilities solely because this is 100% Sean Lewis' offense.

I'm a Kent St grad and use to be apart of the athletic department back in the day. I would be very intrigued to see that offense in Coral Gables. With the type of QB and athletes UM can attract, UT's offense would be our floor.
Nice! Yeah Crum was the QB. Couldn’t think of his name. I figured they would take a step back this year but looks like the QB this year is a jr.

It’s a fair point that how much is Sowder really running it and can he install it here. That’s above my pay grade.

Kent St looked good last night against BG

Put up 40 but that included late pick 6

I don't understand taking a job where the AD says I don't know where the money will come from. But it's the perfect job, Colorado is one of the worst if not the worst Division 1 programs that went 1-11. You can only go up and both the University and Prime know its a stepping stone.
Lewis to Colorado official. Was hoping he changed mind like Candle

Candle must be insanely clueless about defense, they lose 6 games seemingly every year.
He’s actually not. Toledo always has the best defense in the MAC. Their secondary is very good. He’s just not a good HC.
