Didn’t Richt have like 5 straight waves of QBs and RBs get drafted relatively high?

This is a nice summary of the UGA boards from about 2010-2015.

I'd add DJ Shockley to the list of rock solid college QBs, too.

You mentioned Richt missing on Deshaun Watson and Cam Newton. The problem is that he didn't really miss, it's that he never really tried. He recruited Cam Newton as a tight end, for heaven's sake. Deshaun Watson grew up less than 45 minutes from UGA and didn't get an offer until after he'd committed to Clemson and there was a near mutiny of boosters in the area.

That is still a miss, to me...but we are talking about the same thing.

Alluded to this in my other post. Stafford, Murray, and Lambert were highly regarded out of high school. Stafford and Murray were both 1 and 2 at their positions and 5* QBs. Lambert was a 4* when he signed with Virginia. Stafford and Murray lived up to their billing, Lambert was not bad (12/2 TD/INT) but they also had Michel, Chubb, and Marshall. Richt also got Jacob Eason to commit to Georgia before getting canned.

Richt knows what high-quality college QBs looked like. He even told Rosier that he was never going to play for Miami underneath him. He should've stuck to his gut and tried to find more QBs during the recruiting cycles.
