Didn’t Know That We Were...

The only hope is that his love for UM is more important to him than his own ego and that he self-evaluates and realizes his offense is killing us. That’s tough for guys who have reached such heights in their careers and are making $4M per to do.

Takes a special guy, who has reached this level of success in his life, to self-scout and be honest and admit his offense is the problem and that he needs to bring someone like Briles in and hand the offense to him.

I’m not sure he’s a championship coach even with a great OC. But we’d at least be a much better team than we are.

Sage wisdom, Franchise.

We are not and never will be Bama. The constant comparisons to Saban are absurd. They are the only perfect storm of elite coaching and unlimited funds out there.

We have to be the best Miami we can be. Right now we aren’t there in depth of talent, coaching and execution.

Every great team we’ve ever had here has laid an egg or two during the regular season The difference is elite players rose to the occasion and made huge plays to win.

We need all of it to be truly great again. One side of the ball is there. The other is being hamstrung by multiple factors including archaic play calling. But we still need big time players to make big time plays in big games.

No. Alabama was not formed by flying banners and posting on message boards and shouting at the TV. It was formed by spending money on everything. It was formed by fans showing up against cellar dwellar opponents during down years. It was formed by a collective consciousness in the state uniting in support of one team. "Roll Tide" isn't a "What have you done for me lately?" Catch phrase. It's a way of life.

Did you just post a paragraph about how Alabama was formed without mentioning Saban? Lol.

He just stands there like he's in a F-ing Trance on the sidelines.....It's almost like Bela Lugosi is gonna Pop out and lead him astray.....

I wonder how many of these Chicken Little type, if they were l$u/Baga fans (and I wonder that some of them may be), would have been calling for Nick Sabag to be fired from l$u after they lost to UAB in 1999. Or would they have fired him after the 2002 season when he went 8-5 with losses to an unranked Auburn and Arkansas... just before winning a NC in 2003.

Maybe they would have fired him during his first year at Baga, after he lost to UL-Monroe... just before winning a NC in 2008.

Regardless, Miami is Miami and there is a standard and expectation to win. And by win, I mean national championships. That should always be the goal. At the end of the day, I agree we won't be there without a revamped offensive scheme (not just the playcalling, but the offensive philosophy and the playbook itself). Have we plateaued under Richt? Will he be able to make the needed changes to this team to get us to the next level, or will we just be another 9/10 win team as long as he's the coach? Can he buck loyalty/family/nepotism to make some needed coaching changes at the assistant level? Can he, like @The Franchise said, self-evaluate and evolve? I don't know.

These are all fair questions to ask at this point and I guess we'll see. Anyone who doesn't see that at this point is probably a hopeless homer, a blind-a$$ fan, or they lack any real understanding of offensive football. But at the same time, anyone who is looking at where we are now (even after an ugly, unacceptable loss against UVA) that thinks we haven't been moving in a positive direction under Richt lacks perspective. We are improved under Richt compared to the last three staphs, but he's currently falling short of the long-term expectations for this program. Period.
