Did we really expect

Good post. Realistic fans knew we were outgunned on the road. Losing that game is understandable but I think a lot of the anger is based on how we lost it and how we looked out there.

the lack of discipline from a penalty standpoint was Florida State like. All the false starts and pre snap penalties tell me there were too many guys on that field that the moment was too big for.

our complete inability to function on offense is troubling. We may have the worst WR group in power 5. Some of the play calls were questionable but I can live with all of them. That said some of the personnel decisions had me shaking my head. Biggest play of the game, 4th and half a yard and we use our scat back while Chaney and Cam watch? Makes no sense. All of that pressure last night and no screen passes that I recall....we looked unprepared.

if we lost by the same score but had a couple more stops and a little bit of offense people would be less reactionary.
agree. For me, the offensive game plan was the biggest head scratcher. We used virtually none of the plays that have worked in the previous three games. I would have felt better had they at least TRIED and failed.... Cam ran straight ahead into the back of the OL as they got pushed back over and over and over.....

Bruh. Football is a game to compete. I expect to compete. Win our lose go out there and compete.

We did not go out there and compete. I don’t want to hear about 21-10 halftime score moral victories. Football games last 4 quarters.

We never competed. We got boat raced. Competitors don’t fail to get first downs. Competitors score. Competitors don’t give up 42 points and 500 yards of offense.

They compete.

At the end of the day you line up across from the next man and snap the ball. These aren’t the Monstars they are other human beings in similar weight classes!

Compete!

That’s all I wanted.

This game is over though. We did NOT compete. Fucc it tho. Let’s win out.
i disagree ... we competed, we were outcoached and overmatched skill wise

Didn't even compete...that was the issue.
we competed, you don't block three kicks if you're not giving effort ... we were however outcoached and out manned ... i'm speechless at our wideouts ability ... we haven't had a game changer since ahmon richards

Got to love CIS.

Monday-Friday: Canes are going to beat this Clemson team that is the weakest in years.
Sunday morning: did we really expect to win?

We need more bubba mentalities

I didn’t expect a win but I expected to look like we weren’t another 4 years away from losing by only 14 points to Clemson. Our coaches will never be ready against this level of program.

Dabo Swinney is such an arrogant mfkr he comes off like he is laughing in his head at the thought of a Manny Diaz coached team ever beating him during post and pre game interviews.
As I said in another thread, him trying to score at half-time on a miracle kick and running the hurry up with 25 seconds left to try for a TD tells me he knows this team could be a threat down the road and he's trying to get a mental advantage on us now.

Played out the way I thought.
Had the same feeling. I was hoping we would see some progress and at least show something but this team is closer to the one that lost to FIU then they are with playing with a top team. We did not belong on that field last night.

We competed on STs and D.

For whatever reason the O came out with an awful game plan and had no adjustments for what Clemson were doing. Lashlee was schooled last night - it must have been a humbling experience for him after all the hype.

I took it as Dabo wanting to make a point that he could do whatever he decides to do against Manny Diaz and it will lead to another TD regardless of all the Miami hype. I think the hype is what triggers Dabo the most not the actual idea of us being a real threat to him.

Dude, Honestly I thought the same way.... Until we get a REAL coaching staff, and I like Lashley still; let him get his recruits in here, I don't see manolo beating him. We need a seasoned coach NOT a first timer at the U.

That's the reason it's a wash, rinse, repeat in Miami.
Just look at NC with their old *** seasoned HC..... him and manolo have the same amount of time at their respective universities, but they look totally different. Experience, Wisdom ...

The canes, a team who got shut out by Louisiana tech and lost fo fiu to end last season to come out and keep it close and/or beat the #1 team in the nation, a team that is a dynasty with the best qb and rb in the nation along with the best defensive coordinator/scheme?

i wanted to see us win as much as anyone. But seeing “fire manny” and “rhett is overrated” posts is disheartening.

Even the legend Ed Reed posted “we growing...to be continued” on his Instagram this morning.

we as fans need to be more realistic and supportive instead of being toxic and hateful. No great team was built overnight.

Best case, and actually realistic IMO is face them again in the ACCCG.
All these posters…ain’t fans.

100% correct.

Every team has and will continue to kick us while we’re down for recruiting purposes.

I blame the coaches for missing on the recruits in our backyard. Then again, why would I blame those same recruits?? Who's going to teach them?

Anyone that thought we would win was delusional. I thought we’d challenge them and make it a game . But this Clemson team is not the 86 bears, what we allowed them to do schematically on d was comical. Go watch kiffin dismantle the most talented defense in America last night. Scheming gets guys open , an offensive coordinator worth his salt don’t allow a dc to lineup an run man majority of the game or blitz. Venerables took away the zone read and Lashlee was fd.

Virginia moved the ball on them all night , because Bronco is a good offensive coach. Everyone crowning this d watch what they allow against t with less talent. I guarantee you every team they play will move the ball far better. It was a pathetic game plan.

I said all week 34-37 points is needed to have us in the game. If you thought anything different you were blind.

We’ll revisit this.

The top tier coaches will take last nights debacle and remind these SFL kids why they’d be wasting their talents coming here. Our only hope, being able to show them our progression with a 9/10 win season and a better showing in the ACCCG.

I’m pretty disappointed how offensively we couldn’t get anything going AGAIN against them

Our game plan was obviously awful and should be burned and never used again
Concerning. Running inside zone on first down repeatedly and getting the same result and not adjusting was worrisome. We were 2nd and 12 every **** time...

The funny thing is there are a lot of dumb fans who truly thought we would win that game. Still to come out flat, dumb penalties and be out coached is the problem. I knew the talent wasn’t there but the other stuff is on the coaches.

not ready to bury this team yet. I need to see the next few weeks. We have the talent to beat the rest of our opponents. I don’t think we run the table. We aren’t there yet. Still major issues at WR, O-line and LB.

Manny isn’t at fault for the O-line and WR but he is for the LB. Patke is a bum and should be fired. Get a recruiter and true Lb coach next year.
