Did we even recruit Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson is an absolute stud...I'm putting money on every UL game after this showing

I feel like he wasn't highly recruited, as in the big 3 in FL didn't really offer him

There will always be those handful of guys who slip out of South Florida and succeed elsewhere

Us as UM fans need to come to terms with that

In the NFL it is spread out, but the QBs are still in the pocket. Can some run, absolutely, but they are all pass first. QB is going to be a strength here for a long time. We now have a decent QB in every class.

This. The NFL doesn't run a "spread" much .

All I know is his game play has me excited for N'Kosi..... He is going to be incredible

Perry is good but he isnt a better athlete than jackson. But perry is a much better thrower than he was when he came out.

Then Perry is the better QB for Miami. We just spent 5 years in **** because someone tried to chance our DNA on defense to fit his person preferences. Miami QBs throw the ball from the pocket NFL style. We have fleets of WRs and RBs available to us who can run the crap out of the ball. We need someone to direct them. Please no more DNA treatments because someone likes running QBs.

WTF is "NFL style" though?

Everybody in the NFL is spreading it out.

You wanna win college football games or not? Jackson is dynamic and he would absolutely tear it up at Miami with all of the WR talent at his disposal. (in the right offense of course)

Don't waste your time. That dude is stuck in the 80s.

We didn't sign one of the best QBs in college football right now, and he was local. Huge miss.

I can't wait to see what Rick can do with Perry because Perry is light years ahead of Jackson as a passer coming out of HS.

Jackson looking like Vince Young early on. If Nkosi is better, just give us the trophy now.

Official bagman of the WEZ

If a kid wants playing time he knows he is not going to get it with Kaaya starting. So I don't count it as a "huge miss".

People here hyping up some high school kid inspired me to take a look at highlights of Perry and I must admit the kid is very impressive on film. Almost like a Vick-Johnny Football hybrid. Can Flick the ball many yards down field like it is nothing. Can be elusive and keep things going until the very last second to find WRs.

Richt is probably licking his chops at the possibilities with that guy. We'll see if he can live up to the hype.

The 80's were very nice. 90's and 2000 not to bad either. Running QB's are not new. Before the rise of The U, they were very common -- see OU, NE. We changed college football, I see no reason to go back to the 70's, now those sucked. Would I like a QB like Kelly or Vinnie who could run some, sure. However, I would point out, that while among my favorites and probably our best QBs, neither brought home an NC. I can't remember for sure how Jim got hurt but I wave a vision of him trying to run. Maybe someone with a better memory can tell us what happened.

Louisville had some highly touted QBs on its roster when Jackson signed there. He wasn't guaranteed anything. This is more mythology created by UM fans to excuse our failures.

He was a huge miss given that he's already being mentioned in Heisman discussions.

Jackson only got on the field after the 3 guys in front of him failed on the field. He didn't walk in there and get handed the starting gig. He was a fairly overlooked QB recruit, who has blossomed incredibly under the tutelage of an offensive genius.

But are you saying he would be starting over Kaaya?
I don't think so.
And the way people are talking about Perry it is not that big of a loss.
We shall see.

Sorry, are we excited because some guy is lighting up Syracuse? Just want to make sure I'm on the same page as everyone else.

Have you watched him play? Unreal speed for a QB, and has a great arm. With Petrino calling the plays Louisville could win the Atlantic for the next couple years.

No. He probably wouldn't be starting over Kaaya. But he'd be a RS freshmans who we could run some packages with and who could step in as a sophomore and kill it. Kaaya gets hurt this year, and I'd rather have Jackson in there than anyone on our roster.

I guess we can wonder if Jackson would be as good as he is if he came here. He wouldn't have had a master working with him for two years.

Petrino is is going to destroy that overrated Jizzbutt defense in a couple weeks.

More than likely you are right. He could hypothetically be very successful under Richt. However, the kids we have on the roster and in future classes can also be successful here too.
That is why I think it won't be as huge of a loss.
