We can all agree that Beck was off last night. Sick? Flu? Hurt? The weather (GTFOH)? I don't know. But I kept coming back to his last run at 7:55 in the fourth quarter vs USF where he got popped pretty dam hard in the right shoulder. at that time, he gave no indication that he might have gotten hurt. But did he? I don't know, but he was WAY WAY off last night. Thoughts?

Had too a good time on Friday night.

In 2 rain games he's made some struggle passes (albeit against 2 higher level opponents in ND and UF). He looks to be a precision passer and the wet conditions likely are impacting him. There was also a few drops last night that receivers were struggling with. Again, probably because of wet conditions.

No signs that he was hurt. He was hesitant in his delivery. “Aiming” the passes rather than just throwing. Saw it a bunch of times. His velocity was fine on the pick he threw and he didn’t look like he was struggling physically. Just think he never got into rhythm and then CJ’s drop and Bauman not running the right route (the overthrow early in the game where Beck was clearly mad at him) and then the blocking 10 yards downfield issue got into his head.

He made plenty of good throws to show he isn’t hurt. I need to rewatch the game but he missed some short throws he normally doesn’t, there were drops, and we didn’t have a lot of open receivers. Was probably my main question on the offense coming into the year. Can we separate against good corners? I didn’t see a ton last night, but I need to watch again.

But Beck is fine, health wise. The field was a lot wetter than it looked on TV.

Funny. I made the same post and was only mocked. Good to see post count can actually help drive a legit conversation. Like I said, we would never know if he was hurting or not. But it does pass the smell test.

i was at the game. on the third row. saw everything right in front of me. he was off from the very beginning. i'm not saying he's hurt to the point he cannot play, but could be sore. just a theory. i did see him grimace in the huddle at the beginning of the game.

Re., receivers getting separation. I think it’s a lot like last year. Against equal or lesser talent we do fine. Against very good athletic DBs which UF has and to a lesser extent ND we are limited. That’s why I laugh in the game thread when people during the ND game and then last night were complaining about Dawson not having him air it out. People forget against FSU last year even Cam couldn’t get the big play because FSUs DBs were as good as our receivers.

Everyone that was at the game said it was wet. Even on game day final they commented on how much rain was coming down. I think it was the rain.

this is where my thought was too. got in his head too much about throwing a pick and/or protecting the ball.

Beck was off for sure and everyone gets upset when Mario ball goes all phyzical. Truth is we won a game handily where the offense was off thanks to being able to rely on the offensive line and running game.
