Did anyone do game introductions like CBS in the 80s?

Ok, this might be my all-time favorite CBS intro into a game -- 89 Notre Dame

Just watch the first 10 minutes of the broadcast. They made this feel like the Ali-Frazier of college football:

The topic is really more indicative of sports broadcasting as a whole. There's no more guys who grew up in the radio era still in the game. The idea of "painting verbal pictures" is not something the modern era sports industry people have knowledge of. They're mostly stats guys and/or hype guys, but none who know how to do with any kind of eloquence.

Nothing beats CBS's NBA & CFB pre-game intros...ABC's CFB pre-game intros weren't bad either when Keith Jackson did the narrating. Man I miss those days, we had it good.

NBC’s NBA pregame was pretty iconic too; but CBS CFB pregame was absolutely outstanding

CBS has the best College Football theme music. They also did a great lead-in for 1989 ND Game.
