Diaz should be fired for mis-use of Franklin all year.

I like Hickson so don’t want to second guess hIm. Hard not to feel like Thad needed a strong kick in the *** earlier in camp so he could have contributed come ACC play. He’s a talent.

B Smith
C Smith
Thad

Alll got a lot more playing time today and showed something, especially B Smith. So either coaches didn’t see what they had in these guys earlier in the season, and/or the players improved in practice and worked their way into playing time? Maybe some of each? Let’s not always assume it’s all on the coaches. Sometimes players, especially freshmen, improve over the course of the first season.

Was Thad really that impressive today? Glad they used him but I didn’t see anything special. VT was exhausted by the time he got in…Hoping he’ll show out in the next two games…

Chaney is the best if he could stay healthy IMO.
He can't that's two years in a row mean while Rooster gives you 30+ carries and banging off multiple bodies. Lol Chaney might be behind Thad if he can't stay healthy. Your best ability is your AVAILABILITY

If he showed up in ******* shape…but we basing this **** off garbage time yards?
I'm curious just off sight, what would you prefer for short yardage. A kid who's 220 solid and decent speed or a kid who's 190 or so and walks up to the line of scrimmage before he takes off or better yet a kid who's well built but runs straight into the backs of his lineman 9 out of 10 times.

I’d rather keep 4 on the field running like he did on that TD run..I’d rather have Don not get injured followed by 23..and I’d rather have the o line being good enough that whoever the ball carrier is doesn’t have to make a move before he gets to the LOS..I’d rather thad show up to camp in better shape so he doesn’t have to spend the first 2 weeks of fall camp tryna get in shape…I’d rather us not embellish garbage time runs

I think he’s basing it off our garbage coach who didn’t know till half way through year who his best WRs, safeties, QB, and others are
Bruh our secondary has not been good with the young guys..they’ve flashed their talent and battled for sure. They’ve also gotten beat and had some MEs...and our best WRs have literally been the guys we started the szn with. Rambo, Harley, smith and X

Our personnel grouping is not really suited to run the ball. We try to run inside with only 5 linemen; the TE can’t run block, 3 wide receivers, and as a result, we are always out numbered on run plays. Maybe, if Arroyo is a better run blocker we can use him in that capacity next year, but with Mallory and 3 receivers, we will not run successfully and consistently. Think about it. If the defense has 6 players up front they will outnumber us on every run.

But to do that the defense only has 5 defenders to deal with Mallory and 3 receivers. Give TVD time with fast receivers like we have and he will find them 1-2 receivers who are open.

So how well you run isn’t just about whether the o-line gets a push Or even how big the running back is. Sometimes it’s just a numbers game.
The one time Knighton was successful in short yardage was on the first short touchdown where TVD was under center, we ran out of the I-formation and used a fullback.

Oh yeah, we ran an I-formation short yardage play and it worked. Too bad we never used that formation sooner, like when we were backed up on the 1 yard line and needed to get out of its own end zone.

Going to throw arroyo into this conversation because it’s a travesty what this staph is doing to this kid. When the young man is in the game good things happen.... especially in short yardage situations as the H back. But as expected I maybe saw it once or twice tonight!!! Brilliant decision making from lashlee and manny on display.

And he did this when the entire country knew we were running the ball with 11 in the box!!
