Diaz Salary

I’m pretty concerned about the lack of power 5 guys he is talking to to round out his staff. So far he’s 0 for 2. Maybe it doesn’t mean anything. We got Jess Simpson from high school. However I don’t see any of the big programs getting their coaches from small schools.
Exactly!

Folden was making 2.5 million, he just had a big *** buyout! 3 million is too **** much for a 1st time guy at UM! Butch didn't even get that when he was at UM, and Clappy was making 2.5 AFTER winning a title! And poor Randy was getting 900k and had to sue for his final 25k lol! Give Manny 2 mil and spend the rest on QUALITY ASSISTANTS, then when he PROVES HIMSELF you renegotiate his scratch!

Butch coached at UM almost 20 years ago. Salaries have increased exponentially since then. Same with Coker.

Ryan Day hasn't been a HC and he's getting $4.5 mil per year, which is more than what Richt was making.

Edit: Back in 2009, Bowden was making just over $2.5 mil per year.

I said above 3 mil would be ridiculous for Diaz, but I wouldn't be surprised if James gave Diaz that amount. James did not disappoint.

Maybe Blake James thinks this is a "Brewster's Millions" situation and if he can spend 30 million, the school inherits 300 million. Next up, hauling icebergs to Miami for fresh water.

As long as that incompetent buffoon is the AD, the sports programs will stay in the toilet. I don't think I've ever hated a person as much as I hate Blake James.
that is what u pay coaches in ncaa today. don't u pay attention the avg salary for 1st time fbs coach is 3 mil. Miami is paying the going rate. he was gonna get 2 mil at temple. he is not overpaying him that's ridiculous diaz is like the 40th paid coach in college football that's mid pack its nto like he is making experienced coach money which is 4-5 mil

******* Blake James I want someone to give me 3 good reasons why he’s ad

1. IPF
2. Almost sold out season tickets at Hard Rock
3. When every other AD was looking at this job as a stepping stone this is where Blake wanted to be.

Has he done some things wrong, sure. But he is not the worst AD in the world like this site makes him out to be.

FYI they could’ve had Matt Campbell for 4 mil and only 3 mil more in buy out. Probably could’ve had Dino or Neal Brown for just a smidge more than 3.1 or less.

You know Matt Campbell? You know he was interested in the Miami job? I wish like **** we would have done an actual search but its easy to say we could have had so and so for this amount by just looking at their current salaries. There is no way of knowing if they were even interested in the first place.

Bro, giving Richt an extension for absolutely no reason should have been a fireable offense for incompetence. There were no teams coming after Rick. He had a couple more years under the original contract, if he performed up to expectations, then give him a raise with his next contract. All James succeeded in doing was tying up the school financially. It was a terrible business decision and almost kneecapped the program for the next 5 years.

My lord “You know Matt Campbell?” “You know he was interested in the Miami job?” How about you guys assume everybody wants a chance to win until they tell us no? How do you know he didn’t want the job? We never called and last time I checked you miss all the shots you don’t take.

I never said he didn't. You're the one speaking your opinion and spreading it around as a fact. I would have liked for us to call around as well. I'm just saying we don't know if he was interested or not and so saying we could have had him for 4 mil is pointless.

Well, Shalala beats him by a mile.

Diaz should not be making anything above $2.5 million, and that is generous. If you go that inexperienced route, you get more experience around him with the extra cash....you don't start another Richt Groupon staff.

UM

I’m fine with the salary that’s how much you would expect to pay an ACC coach..

Just don’t be giving fast contract extensions ******** us over if things fall apart fast like the last two

Where did I say it was fact? All I said is that he probably could’ve had Campbell for 4 mil and 3 mil more in buyout. You’re the one that has it made up in your mind that he didn’t want the job. That’s why you made that dumb comment. I’m the one acting on the fact that humans want to be the best they could be and in this career field being the best you could be = giving yourself the best opportunity to win championships in which last I checked Miami is naturally a way better program. So stop with your stupid innuendos.

You said Miami could've had him for 4 mil. My question was how do you know, if he was interested and even if 4 mil was enough. You don't. Just like I don't. Anyway we will never know because our admin didn't even bother to call anyone else. That we both agree, we should have called others instead of just handing the job to Manny.

UM

Exactly my point. I don't hate the Diaz hire. So far he has made some good moves (firing everyone on offense), but made some bad moves (not cleaning house on defense) as well. He was a solid DC but not elite, which is why most of us didn't shed a tear when he left. Then suddenly he goes from making 800k a year to 3.1 million. Huh? What did he do to deserve that? If Miami is really his "dream job" then he'd take the job for 2.5 mil. If after a successful 2019 James wants to give him a bump up to 3.1 mil based on performance, then I can understand that. It makes the coach happy to get a raise and feel appreciated.

The job of a good AD is to get the best coach for the lowest possible salary, and give the program the flexibility to cut bait cheaply if things go wrong. James does everything backwards. He gave away the farm in the blink of an eye, so now instead of going from a reasonable 2.5 mil to 3.1 after a good season, Miami has to go from 3.1 to close to 4 mil if it wants to reward Diaz. That's insane money for a decent DC in his first HC gig.
