Diaz Salary

James has had a hand in killing baseball, football, and basketball. Yeah, I don't like him.
The NCAA killed basketball and Jim Morris killed baseball. Also, $3.1 million puts Diaz around the 40th highest paid HC in America, slightly more than guys like Pat Narduzzi, Dave Doeren and Matt Luke. Heck, Bronco Mendenhall makes more than Manny does.

It is a good salary and hopefully allows us to get a $2m OC. If Diaz wins then give him an extension after year 3 and pay him $4.5m.

If that salary means a 2 mil per year OC, then I'm 99% behind it. The 1% doubt comes from James giving 2 mil per year to someone who doesn't deserve it. Although I like Bedenbaugh, I get people wanting someone who called plays before. 2 mil is more than double Kiffins salary, but he might have too much ego become an OC. That leaves David Yost. Dude knows QBs. Making 600k per year at TT. Offer 1.2 mil and call it a day. Take that other 800k and invest in the OL coach and hire another stud recruiter like Corey Raymond, since Banda, Patke, and Rumph aren't getting it done.

Jim Morris didn't hire Tomato King Jr as the next HC. That was all James.

3.1 million per year.

I said above 3 mil would be ridiculous for Diaz, but I wouldn't be surprised if James gave Diaz that amount. James did not disappoint.

Maybe Blake James thinks this is a "Brewster's Millions" situation and if he can spend 30 million, the school inherits 300 million. Next up, hauling icebergs to Miami for fresh water.

As long as that incompetent buffoon is the AD, the sports programs will stay in the toilet. I don't think I've ever hated a person as much as I hate Blake James.
Lol he should be getting between 2 and 2.5

Diaz’s salary, if compared to 2018 salaries, would have been 41st, comparable to the salaries of coaches at Georgia Tech, NC State, Pittsburgh and Mississippi.”

And you guys wonder why we ain’t competing for ships.

Richt was making $4.5 million, so Diaz is making a lot less.

Again, if Blake spends its bad and if he doesnt then MIami is cheap.

You cant win with the absolute ******* hypocrites of CIS
Eff dat dude! 3 million too **** much for a first time head coach! Could have got Butch, Kiffin, Leach ( who's good friends with Donald Trump ) with that type of loot, and still have money left to hire top notch assistants! Don't come back a year or two talking about how James needs to go!

Because we hire people like Diaz, that's why we can't compete!

It's at least a million too much! And for what, the FUGGIN TURNOVER CHAIN?

His salary is at the middle of the pack amongst Power 5 coaches.

Ryan Day has never been a head coach anywhere and he's getting $4.5 mil per year.

There's a lot to ***** about with Blake James. I'm not understanding why Manny should be making less than Al Golden did here.

Because if he was making around $2 mil per year, people would be complaining about how we're not spending enough money to be competitive.

There are some truly banged up people posting on here.

Four pages and counting of a bunch of half wits ripping a contrace they spent zero seconds comparing to any others currently out there.

It's really kinda sad.

I'm in wait and see mode right now regarding all things concerning Manny Diaz. His salary, who he hires on the coaching staff, recruiting, these are all topics I'm going to refrain from being judgemental on until at least 2021. At that time, we can revisit these matters with an honest perspective. In the meantime, I'm going to give Manny the benefit of the doubt like I did for Shannon, Golden, and Richt before him.

Hopefully Diaz is worth that much. But I'm a bit skeptical.
Diaz cannot be mentioned in the same breath as Leach, Barber, and Campbell all proven commodities who would have had
staff in place and been ready to recruit and truly establish a new culture.

I don't even care about the salary tbh.....what concerns me more is will Blake actually WAIT THIS TIME UNTIL THE LAST YEAR OF HIS CONTRACT TO SEE IF HE'S ACTUALLY DONE ENOUGH AS THE HEAD COACH TO WARRANT AN EXTENSION.

I mean.......4 times making the same mistake. Let the **** thing play out this time.
I’m pretty concerned about the lack of power 5 guys he is talking to to round out his staff. So far he’s 0 for 2. Maybe it doesn’t mean anything. We got Jess Simpson from high school. However I don’t see any of the big programs getting their coaches from small schools.

Folden was making 2.5 million, he just had a big *** buyout! 3 million is too **** much for a 1st time guy at UM! Butch didn't even get that when he was at UM, and Clappy was making 2.5 AFTER winning a title! And poor Randy was getting 900k and had to sue for his final 25k lol! Give Manny 2 mil and spend the rest on QUALITY ASSISTANTS, then when he PROVES HIMSELF you renegotiate his scratch!
