Diaz Quote on Coach Kool and Dline Play

Diaz is the one Richt hire I hate. On Hornfans all the UTexas fans think he was awful. They view him at least as bad if not worse than we view Nix and Donofrio. Some people argue that he almost singlehandedly destroyed the end of Mack Brown's coaching career. Mississippi State fans don't view Diaz in high regard at all either- they're all glad to be rid of him. The one thing he might have had going for him at UT and MSU was being a guy with SoFla ties for recruiting. But that's hardly a strength that matters when the school is located in SoFla like Miami is.

Why didn't Richt bring Jeremy Pruitt over from UGA? Nole fans believe he was the greatest thing ever from his year with them and he did pretty well at UGA as well. Pruitt wasn't hired as Saban's new DC until almost a month after Richt was named Miami head coach. Richt had 29 days to hire Pruitt at Miami before Saban grabbed him.

Didn't want to leave the SEC.

Because Pruitt is a self absorbed jerk that's looking to weasel his way into a head coaching job. He caused some major rifts in the UGA staff and I'm sure Richt was happy to get away from that guy. I'm not a fan of Pruitt. Really not a fan of the 3-4. Although I've seen Pruitt switch his scheme to fit the players, that guy wants to run a 3-4. F him.

Was Diaz coaching with Richt and Kool at Texas or Mississippi state? Oh he wasn't?

Then who gives AF what he did there? Yall have to remember that coordinators are only as good as their position coaches and head coaches are only as good as their coordinators.

Cant compare what Diaz did at other schools with other coaches.

Does he want aggression? Check. Believe in speed? Check. Does he have the scheme/formation that suits the recruiting base? Check.

Now its wait and see mode. Dude is in no way shape or form comparable to mark fuqin donofrio. Stop it.

"I think the one thing is the players, they instantly bought in because they see this defense is about defensive linemen making plays, and they know his background, they know his track record, so he had instant credibility when he walked in and then he said, ‘Hey, by the way, we’re playing a scheme where instead of you worrying about tying up blocks or standing on the line of scrimmage, we’re going to eat in the backfield.”

I know lots of people have said he talks a good game, but they want to see the production, but you have to admit this guy can at least talk the talk. Loved the comment about eating in the backfield.

I thought the most significant part was the way he threw shade on the previous staff, "we’re playing a scheme where instead of you worrying about tying up blocks or standing on the line of scrimmage."

Direct shot at the previous defense.

Diaz sure does like to take shots. Let's see if he can back it up.

Pretty sure that was Diaz repeating what Kool said.

Richt and Pruitt had issues working together at GA and Richt I believe just felt more comfortable with Diaz as his DC.

Just bc he hadnt been hired, doesn't mean Saban wasnt talking to him - would have been just like Mario - "thank you for the job Miami ....... wait, goodbye UM and hello bama"

that's a straight up kick to the groin without foul play

he prob watched the tape and was like, "wtf is this guy doing with these players, this is an embarrassment"
