Diaz on the new dbs- Barry Jackson piece

Amari Carter is going to make a lot of so-called recruiting experts look dumb as dogsh!t in a few months.

He should be happier than a pig in **** with all those Back 7 options and knowing the front 4 is borderline elite.

Can't wait to see the weird blitz packages Week 3. The defense should watch the initial battle scenes of the movie 300 right before the game.

I think we have a solid 5 CB's that will contribute and 3-4 safeties.

Trajan is a baller and I think with Delaney, Dean and Malek our top 4 is better than last year.

JJ I'm not worried about because I never felt Carter played as good as he looked. I actually think the 3 (Redwine, Johnson and Carter) will be ok. Carter is a thumper that seems to have better instincts than Carter. I think JJ will take a big leap and be a playmaker for the D. Can't wait to watch this team grow this year.

I'm worried about the depth tho. Not gone lie

It's better than last year number wise

Coming in to the season we only felt comfortable about 2 of the positions last year with elder and jenkins. And then the jury was still out on carter and colbert. We didn't know how any of the corners would perform after elder.

Now we have a solid 5 in
Malek young - good freshman year and took the next step by haveing an excellent spring
Dee Delaney- great ball hawking cornerback, fcs all American that balled out against top level competiton he faced. Physically imposing db
Jhavontae dean- 6'2 190 with 4.3 speed and great coverage skills.
Trajan bandy- a Miami bred savage at corner that plays with the most heart on the field and really good speed. Top nickel corner guy
Mike Jackson- who had a solid spring

At safety
Jaquan Johnson- quietly had a productive year and received plenty of playing time in each game. Had 40 tackles last year
Sheldrick redwine- decent sophmore year, he doesn't have the hips to play cornerback but he's better suited for safety for sure. Played a lot of ball last year.
Amari carter- if the spring was any indication then he's just a stud.(10 tackles in the spring game) Hardest hitting db Miami has right now
Derrick smith- he's a sleeper, reminds of rayshawn jenkins coming out of highschool but with better hit power and having some range as a big safety.
Romeo Finley- is he a player? Idk but we didn't hear much about him in the spring
Robert knowles- Diaz said he is one of the players that improved the most in the spring

Playing behind that front 7 that will do very well this year. I feel a lot more confident in this cb group coming into the year than I was last year and it's not even close. As far as the safety goes we have 2 guys who played a lot of minutes for us last year and a talented prospect or 2 behind them .

Brock them safeties are scary. I want to see if JaQuans instincts can cover lack of speed. Won't know until they run a deep route his way

We're going to be scary again on defense this year fellas..."hairplugs" Fisher is wetting his pants thinking about playing this D!

Jaquan is already a better player than Carter ever was. Anyone worrying about him needs to find something else to worry about if you feel the need to worry.

Jaquan has better football instincts in his sleep than Jamal had, very low bar. I think Jaquan is going to be light years better than JC and Jenkins. The speed thing doesn't worry me as I doubt opposing QB's are going to have the luxury of standing there and waiting for a deep ball to open up. I think Jaquan is the guy who ends up with the most pics on the team. He'll benefit the most from our front 7.

Go Canes!

With the exception of three key starters in the secondary (Corn Elder, Rayshawn Jenkins, Jamal Carter), UM returns most from a group that ranked 20th nationally in total defense (up from 69th in 2015), ninth in yards per play (up from 86th), 12th in scoring defense (up from 77th), fifth in tackles for loss (105th) and 22nd in sacks (from 70th).

Look at this ****.....This sums up the old regime vs the new regime in a nutshell (all done without Grace , Quadin Muhammad and Juwon Young)

Makes me sick to see those previous rankings and remember how people attacked how our players looked (playing hogtied).
