I'm worried about the depth tho. Not gone lie
It's better than last year number wise
Coming in to the season we only felt comfortable about 2 of the positions last year with elder and jenkins. And then the jury was still out on carter and colbert. We didn't know how any of the corners would perform after elder.
Now we have a solid 5 in
Malek young - good freshman year and took the next step by haveing an excellent spring
Dee Delaney- great ball hawking cornerback, fcs all American that balled out against top level competiton he faced. Physically imposing db
Jhavontae dean- 6'2 190 with 4.3 speed and great coverage skills.
Trajan bandy- a Miami bred savage at corner that plays with the most heart on the field and really good speed. Top nickel corner guy
Mike Jackson- who had a solid spring
At safety
Jaquan Johnson- quietly had a productive year and received plenty of playing time in each game. Had 40 tackles last year
Sheldrick redwine- decent sophmore year, he doesn't have the hips to play cornerback but he's better suited for safety for sure. Played a lot of ball last year.
Amari carter- if the spring was any indication then he's just a stud.(10 tackles in the spring game) Hardest hitting db Miami has right now
Derrick smith- he's a sleeper, reminds of rayshawn jenkins coming out of highschool but with better hit power and having some range as a big safety.
Romeo Finley- is he a player? Idk but we didn't hear much about him in the spring
Robert knowles- Diaz said he is one of the players that improved the most in the spring
Playing behind that front 7 that will do very well this year. I feel a lot more confident in this cb group coming into the year than I was last year and it's not even close. As far as the safety goes we have 2 guys who played a lot of minutes for us last year and a talented prospect or 2 behind them .
