Diaz on Miami's QBs (247)

Question since I don't follow the rankings that closely, how do they come up with the scores for each player? Wouldn't that be a better indicator than overall ranking when we're talking about different years? For example, as someone else mentioned, the 13th ranked player one year could actually be a top 2-3 player if they would have come out in a different year. Just trying to figure how they truly stack up.

Thats a good question. I really don't know. They started doing all time rankings for some of the 5 star guys. But not all of them.

It's important to emphasize that they were different classes though. And even though Jarren's class had Lawrence and Fields, Tate's class was a bit more stacked. Tate's backup in HS, Dorian Thompson-Robinson ended up being ranked even higher in the 2018 class than Tate was in the 2017 class, and I think Tate is the better player.

Either way, good post. I did not realize Jarren was so highly regarded by 247 and espn

That's a **** good point. Those rankings are bipolar too. Only 3 rankings used in the composite now, so one ranking (good or bad) can make a big difference.

ESPN had N'kosi ranked 84th overall. Rivals had him at 188 and 247 had him at 371 . His composite score was 199. So I guess the composite came up with a pretty good average.

But then look at how one ranking dropped Pope. On Rivals, Pope was a 5* and 28th overall. He was 43rd overall on 247. But ESPN had him all the way down at 227. The composite had him at 67 overall.

The only thing the big 3 recruiting sites can agree on is that anyone who signs with Bama deserves the infamous "Bama bump". Everyone else be damned.

After two weeks out with da pink eye Weldon had decent stats in da Spring scrimmage. In last summmer's players workouts, Shaq's Daddy said Shaq was saying Weldon gave the defence fits. I don't trust Richt and Little Richt's QB evaluations and how they put dat mane in their doghouse.

How crazy would it be if Weldon turned out to be the best of the bunch.

I'm good with whoever they decide on. But Idk why so many think Tate is far and away better than Jarren.

Even their recruiting rankings were close. Jarren was ranked higher in his class by both 247 and ESPN. Tate was ranked higher in the composite because Rivals (who most of you don't trust) had Tate ranked 39th and Jarren at 114.

ESPN had Jarren ranked 106 and Tate ranked 127.

247 had Jarren ranked 89 and Tate ranked 92.

They're just so different. I really can't wait to see them both in the spring.
Agree totally with this.

Our QBs haven’t had coaching since they were in HS. Wouldn’t even surprise me to see Kosi get his shlt together.

From the article

“It was extraordinarily tough,” Diaz told 247Sports. “If we’re going to talk to our players about accountability, we have to have that same accountability as coaches. Miami can’t rank where we were offensively last year — we just can’t.”

This speaks volumes...
👀

That sounds familiar to what some of us were saying during the season last year...

That’s cause Dorian got the extra points for most letters in a name. That’s really what held N’Kosi back from being one of the highest rated kids ever.

This tells me none of the coaches believed they were wrong and none of them had respect when they can't own up to their own flaws. Manny has to be in all of the qbs ears knowing they have all the talent around them and enough talent for us to be a top 10 team no question

I think you're finding more folks on here giving the upper hand to Tate is based on three things:

  1. He had arguably the greatest career of any HS QB, ever.
  2. There's a slightly larger sample size of him playing college ball, and its pretty impressive. I think he completed 80% (30% higher than Perry) of his passes and looked calm.
  3. QB1 gives a pretty in-depth look at his senior year at Bishop Gorman and he looks like he'd be able to handle the job of big-time college QB

I honestly don't care who wins the job, but I do hope that Tate is eligible this season because at the very LEAST he's going to raise the level of comp above what it will be if its Jarren/Perry competing.

I would take *** eye over Pink eye Anyday.......
?? Really??

Pink eye derives from CLOSE contact (usually hand to eye) to the ***

*** eye requires ACTUAL eyeball to *** or ******* CONTACT. (Don't try this at home)

*** eye is one of, if not the ****tiest things that can happen to your eye.

But don't let that stop you..go ahead get in there and take that "closer look" if that's your thing.....PS pls send pics

You're assuming he doesn't wake up with some co-ed sitting on his face, thereby obstructing his view to the ceiling.

If you at his age would not want that coed near, then so be it.....give me the piece of a**, anytime, and forget the eye.

We should get to see in the first game, the positive results of quality coaching and quality play calling... even with the present roster.
