Diaz On Keeping Top S.Fla Recruits Home

More so to the fact that kids(broward kids largely) would rather go to an established place in recent years who are contending for championships rather than build a program.
broward is not dade, never will be.

1 4star at his position the last 2 cycles yet he’s considered a “good “ recruiter LOL... but yet rumph with 5 4star recruits at his position and helped with 2 other 4stars is labeled as such a terrible recruiter. People funny on here man

That's a terrible argument. It's like saying an oil-driller in West Texas is better than one in Connecticutt since he's found more oil.

There's an incredible amount of CB talent in South Florida, and the 2018 class had even more than normal. In South Florida, you can miss on the top CBs every year and still bring in very good guys. The fact is Rumph has swung and missed on the top guys on the board for three years in a row. Sure he's ended up bringing in quality recruits, but in context, that really was no special accomplishment.

I'm not going to get into the Banda comparisons, because I don't think he's done anything special on the recruiting trail either. No one on defense has.

Diaz is just using excusing for his and the rest of the defensive staffs recruiting failures. I find it hard to believe that only the kids who play defense down here want to play for contenders because it sure is **** isn't effecting offensive recruiting

It is on the offensive side of the ball too. Lingard, mallory, jordan, ezzard, hightower reed, campbell are not from s.fla. There was only 4 players from s.fla on offense in the 2018 class.

Silly post. As long as he keeps developing our corners the way he is, he will be fine. The CB recruits will come in time. Get guys like MJ and Dean drafted fairly high and they will come.
If we assume that So FL guys are the best, then we do not need all of them. We got really good DBs this class, several. So Bama got two and uga got one. How many did we get? If the ones we miss are divided among several teams we still end up with the most on one team. Sprinkle in some N Fl and Ga guys we are getting and we deflate our enemies while maintaining the core of our locals. Eventually we along will have the goods to take on Bama and it will be weakened. Bet them once and we will reign again.

Defensive staff has a bunch of good "coaches" but leave much to be desired crooting besides Banda...

Guess well see what Patke and Simpson got these next two cycles... Like another poster said this is Rumphs last chance before he should get a nudge to look around for job openings
Rumphs brought in plenty of talent. You guys are ****ed cause one guy we never thought would come here didn’t come here.

Yea but we still got the best offensive guy in SoFl in pope, got the best OL in scaife, we need to get the best players down here at every position so far the offense has the defense needs to step up

I'll agree to a certain extent. I think many of the recruiting failures during the brief CMR era has been partly due to to years of being at the bottom, those top DB's being more confident in other programs. In regards to Rumph, I'll compare him to a boxer who fought a good fight, but lost on points decision.

I can't/won't make individual recruiting judgements on the staff because I'm just not informed well enough. But, what I do know is that in any enterprise, relationships matter. It's obvious that previous UM regimes neglected building local relationships and it'll take CMR and his staff some time to re-establish those relationships. Not giving them a pass, just trying to be realistic and hopeful for the future.

Yup. If we're going to have a week recruiting coach at any position, CB would be it. You can miss on the top guys in So Florida and generally still bring in **** good talent. Though it would be nice to occasionally get the elite guys.

The great thing about this conversation is...

None of us know how good any of these guys truly are at recruiting. As I'm sure some of you know, coaches don't recruit by position, they recruit by region. Just because a kid is a CB doesn't mean that Rumph is his primary recruiter and yada yada yada.
Yeah, we know who we sign and who we miss, but that doesn't necessarily tell us **** about a certain coach's recruiting ability.

When a team really wants a kid, several coaches play a part in the recruitment.
Just speaking in general, not regarding Rumph specifically.

I know something that recruits better than Rumph, Banda, Diaz, Dugans, etc. WINNING.
We start doing more of that, we'll continue to recruit at a high level. All of our guys will look like ace recruiters.

Last years class in 17 had a lot of swings and misses.. if it wasn’t for bandy being a die hard fan things would have looked ugly

I remember when some people were saying Brown had to go after losing the kid to Maryland late last year.

After landing two Top 3-7 RBs this cycle that stopped.

Rumph has been solid but not spectacular. He has a chance to replicate what Brown did this year.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I think the hiring of Simpson will help with keeping Georgia out of S. Fla. He is gonna put pressure on that staff with top-flight Georgia DL's, LB's & DB's. UGA will have to defend their turf as much as we will ours if not more so. The more I think about this hire the more I like it. Richt was very savvy with this hire. Read some quotes from Georgia HS coaches in the article Reg or RellyRell posted. Those guys revere Jess Simpson and not just for coaching ability, but as a man. UGA staff better buckle their chin straps. My $0.02.

Go Canes!
