Diaz gone

Anybody. The trustee said they had over 1 million to throw at a oc if richt wanted to go that route. Now with diaz salary plus that they can throw big money at anybody.
Ok guy. I'll believe it when I see it, we JUST got to where we're paying a head coach 4 million. There are coordinators that make over half of that these days

Nobody's 100%, but I'm also not going to immediately declare the next hire a fail when we don't even know who it will be like a bunch of folks on this board did when Coach Kool decided he didn't feel like being here anymore. And, given how long CMR has been doing this and how close he and Manny have been, I'd expect CMR encouraged Diaz if Manny really wanted to be a head coach now. I expect Richt has himself already been working the lines to see who he can get to be next DC and replace whomever leaves with Manny.

I'm going with this line of thinking as well until further notice.

Serious question: did Manny have any hand or say in all these wonderful hires on defense?

Richt hired Kool before Diaz. Keyed in on Rumph at the same time as Manny, just gave Manny the courtesy of final blessing. I'm sure Manny recommended Banda and Patke, but the head guy still makes the final call. Entirely possible and probable Richt will trust the next DC to make recommendations as well.

Makes sense for Diaz to leave. Temple is already a smart hard nosed defensive minded team that is 6th nationally in yards allowed per play at 4.49. Alabama is seventh at 4.52. Not that I am comparing Temple personnel or defensive caliber to Alabama. But you don't allow only 4.49 yards per play without an attacking mindset on all three levels, and plenty of personnel to make it happen.

Other jobs may sound more glamorous and have greater name recognition, but you're entering a soft defensive atmosphere and face a major rebuild. Temple has legitimately high expectations already for 2019. But if Diaz succeeds he will receive the credit.

Miami allowed only 4.16 yards per play for third nationally. But I believe that would have fallen off at least a half yard per play next season, given personnel losses and sheer normalcy. You couldn't allow only 4.16 again if playing the same schedule.

Diaz realized his stock is highest now. Besides, offensive coaches are more in vogue for the high profile jobs. Diaz couldn't exactly name where he wanted to go.

Not winning against anyone that matters. This is more likely to play out poorly than it is to propel him to a huge job. I'll bet you on that.

The last 3 temple coaches got hired at power 5 jobs, If Diaz doesn't then maybe he was just a ****** coach

Just be thankful you didn't play UCF. It would not have been enjoyable for you.
