He peaked in High School... He's a classic high rated QB who couldn't hang in college & wound up a bust. Not everyone's destined to be a star. He's lucky to be here based on his inability to throw a pass and his lack of movement skills.
That La Tech appearance gave me Kirby Freeman flashbacks. He couldn't even juke or run away from a defensive lineman, and he looked like a Pop Warner QB trying to throw the football.
Some of us tried to explain that to people on the board but the Cult of Tathaniel would always become unruly & irrational whenever anybody would try to have a honest discussion about him, then it would turn into "yOuR jUsT hAtiNg oN tAtE!" Like nah, nobody was hating on the kid, it's just a fact that he's not any good & has no arm talent.
The biggest Red flag from day 1 was the fact that as soon as Ryan Day became HC he immediately went & got Fields, he had seen Tate in practice for 2 years as the OC/QB's coach & knew his ability (or lack thereof) more than anybody else & the first chance he got he said No thanks lol. Ryan Day is one of the best QB developers & gurus in college football, if he didn't want Tate that was a clear indicator he was damaged goods.
Now he gets beat out by Perry & a TF in TVD, that's 3 different OC's/QB coaches who have seen Tate up close & personal in practices & have all said, "Nope!". Not bashing or talking bad about him, just stating the facts.
Hopefully people will now put the delusional love affair to rest, he's not ever gonna start a single game at Miami & once he graduates he should probably transfer.
