One of the more high profile recruits in attendance for the Florida Gators triple overtime win over Kentucky Saturday night was Orlando (Fla.) West Orange running back Dexter Williams.
Though he committed to the Miami Hurricanes back in the spring, he says he still had a great time in The Swamp.
"I think it was a great game and a great experience," said Williams of the game. "It was a lot of fun and it was a loud crowd and great atmosphere. Really just a lot of good action out there."
While watching the game the 5-foot-11, 195-pounder made sure to keep a close eye on the Gator's running backs, which made a big impact in the win.
"I thought it was great because they let the running backs do what they had to do and they were making big plays. They were sharing the rock, also if one was tired. I think I could get in the rotation if I came here and did the work and learned the plays and just doing my assignment."
After the game Williams got a chance to speak with both head coach Will Muschamp and running backs coach Brian White.
"They were just saying not to forget about them and saying I can do great things at Florida. I think I am going to come back and visit a lot because it's so close to home. I think I will be here for when they play LSU also. They are trying to get me up here more and talk to my family more. It just encourages me more to come up here and meet some of the players and hang out with them. Just chances to feel more comfortable and just listen to what my dad says."
So what stuck out the most to the four-star Canes commit?
"I wasn't expecting the crowd to be as loud as it was to be honest," said Williams with a laugh. "It was just crazy. It was just so loud that sometime I couldn't hear anything. I just fell in love with the crowd."
Though Williams is still openly communicating with a handful of colleges, he still insists his commitment to the Hurricanes is a strong one. However he isn't planning to make a visit to Coral Gables until November at the earliest.
"I know I will be in Miami for sure when they play Florida State," said Williams. "I am pretty sound with them. I would say 90% committed. I am still going through the process with them and just enjoying everything and just watch the rest of the season. I am looking to set up my visit to Louisville just don't have a date yet and I want to visit USC Trojans and Notre Dame."
