All credit to my man stoutbeast from 247. Solid to LSU but if you love football just watch his tape.

Here is a freak at 260 pounds...Last year (2014) in track posted an official 10.76--100m..Nike Combine....has benched -355 and squatted 450. ..is solid LSU.

Measurements from the Nike Regional March 15, 2015 are unreal--
Devin White LB 16 LA North Webster 6-1(ht,) 260(wt), 4.54(40 elect), 4.36(short shuttle), 39(power ball), 34(vertical) 122.19(SPARQ)

Is in the Herschel Walker, Marcus Dupree, Bo Jackson mode but heavier.

Sick athlete but what is he? I guess he can be a 3-4 OLB and play the Jack position and cause havoc. He might want to consider a defense like ALA or **** even ours. Cant play DE at 6'1 and he is too heavy for MLB. And LSU plays a strict 4-3.

Freeney played DE at a HOF level for years at 6'1". Dumervil. There are more examples. If the kid can get after the QB a team like LSU (read: good coaching staff) will find a way to let him do it.

6'1" DE's are the exception. Just cause a couple 6'1" guys in the NFL can do it doesn't mean every 6'1" guy can.

I see him as a Linebacker. If he really runs a 4.5 and has good feet then he's not "too big" for LB. People get caught up in height/weight a little too much sometimes. It's about SKILL SET. Plus, I have a feeling he can shed a little body weight.

Ridiculous measureables though. NFL'ish.

Completely agree. Was just making the point that it can be done if you're good enough, and LSU is smart enough to find something for him to do.

It is similar to the point we were all making about your boy Talan. Maybe he is a little too small for linebacker or too slow for safety on paper, but he is good enough that a goods coach gets him somewhere on the field where he can make plays.

Not many 6'1 260lb linebackers without they hand on the ground dominating either. And if they are they have injury issues. See patrick willis and navarro bowman. Even ray lewis said he had to lose weight to last in the league.

But good luck to the young man I guess.

Agree.

The thing with Linebacker and a big kid like that is...does he have the feet? Running fast in a straight line doesn't mean you can play LB.

But you're right, not many guys in that size range playing LB. Most 260lb athletes don't have the feet for LB.

. He's faster than 98% of CBs with that 10.76 (10.64 being the national elite track standard) and as a junior in HS he would've had the 17th best shuttle time for LB's in the NFL and 16th best Vert for a LB.

You talk about his height then you say people get too caught up in measurables

Yeah but I'm not pinning him to a position because of his height. All I said (or implied) is that it's rare for a 6'1" guy to excel at DE.

These kinds of players are a dime a dozen imo and very rarely amount to much in college. He's positionless, probably has very low level of fundamentals/instincts and plays against crappy comp. Wouldn't be surprised if he fizzles out in college or at best, becomes a serviceable player. JMO
