They don’t understand the game but comment like they do.For some people if they don't average double digits they're useless.

Just a lot of boxscore watchers who don't actually know the game. They see a kid who averaged <7 ppg as a true freshman and say, 'he's going to be the weak link in our starting lineup'.They don’t understand the game but comment like they do.
Anyone willing to downplay the importance of shooting in regards to roster construction is stuck in the early eighties. No one is saying that the ability to shoot is the end all be all, but unless you have OVERWHELMING talent, it's almost impossible to be a true contender without some shooters at your disposal. While I agree we need a Guard who is a 3pt specialist, I really don't get the obsession with thinking all that matters is 3 pt shooting.
Our 2024-25 was loaded with good 3 pt shooters and they sucked. Meanwhile we were a mediocre 3pt team last year (and 75% of the comments in the offseason were trashing Jai over the lack of 3 pt shooters) and that team ended up being really good.
What matters is having a roster that fits your identity. Ours is defense, rebounding, and athleticism. Allen checks all those boxes, so I don't agree with saying he's a weak link.
