Dante Allen is the CLEAR weak link, not even close.

We need a shooter
Weak link how exactly? He’s probably our best POA defender. Some of y’all have zero idea wtf you’re talking about.
He’s good, but he’s still the weak link. Who else projected starter is worse? Also the starting lineup need 3pt shooting and that’s not Dante’s strong suit.

It's not yet but the % rose throughout the year and he finished at 32%. No reason why he can't be a 35%+ 3 pt shooter as a sophomore.

And that’d be great for a 6th man. All of the starters are bonafid better. It’s no diss to Dante, he’d be one of the best 6th men in the nation. But his strengths are not what we need starting at SG. We have two Sub 30% 3pt shooters in Lewis & Shelton. We can like the player and also notice he’s the obv weak point if he’s the starting 2.

What’s gaskins %?

Very solid pickup. What I wonder about Goode is why RMU didn't let him shoot more from deep. He was pretty solid with low volume, Even if his percentages dropped with additional shots(Which is likely), he likely would have ended up a high 30s-low 40s shooter from deep, that's very good for a forward.

I hope that he is getting more than 2 shots from deep per game for the 'Canes, because this team desperately needs people that can stretch the floor and be a threat from deep.

While I agree we need a Guard who is a 3pt specialist, I really don't get the obsession with thinking all that matters is 3 pt shooting.

Our 2024-25 was loaded with good 3 pt shooters and they sucked. Meanwhile we were a mediocre 3pt team last year (and 75% of the comments in the offseason were trashing Jai over the lack of 3 pt shooters) and that team ended up being really good.

What matters is having a roster that fits your identity. Ours is defense, rebounding, and athleticism. Allen checks all those boxes, so I don't agree with saying he's a weak link.

The reason it’s such a big deal for me is the difference between Donaldson and Lewis. Donaldson was good at everything, but master at none. Acaden is a great slasher and elite floor general, but seems to be deficient behind the arc. His best strength from a cursory glance is finding the open man. Gotta have people who can hit the open shots.

TLDR: last year the 3 main guards can hit 3% at 35% clip, now we need someone who can hit at a 40% clip. Use the strengths of Acaden Lewis’ playmaking ability.
