2026 Derrek Cooper 5* RB/ATH from Chaminade Commits to Texas

This doesn’t hurt the RB room.. this hurts the we can’t keep locals home to save our life. I get Miami hasn’t won anything since you were born. But it continues to hurt.
It’s a different era .. kids today are polar opposites of the heydays of the 80s early 90s and last run early 2000s it’s a me me me world now

Spare me the relationship talk. It’s 2025. NIL rules 9/10 times

I don’t typically get caught up in “they paid more” but Texas was looking mighty average with “we don’t want kids caught up with NIL.” Then they just start ripping off commit after commit of big names, Lambo videos etc.

RB is just the one position much like the NFL where you can find what you need without breaking the bank.

Like others said the piece that sucks is losing another big name Sfla kid. But more proof we need to spend less time there, esp if we put together another 10-11 win season.

Let’s get 2025 going. I’m over the off season.

How is USC overcoming their slide the past 10-15 yrs?

Are they just paying out the *** for HS recruits this cycle? They’re paying a “suck tax” just like Miami, but I’m guessing having an extra $20-$30 mill per year in tv money, they can afford it a bit easier than us
Money and they have some location benefits. There’s a lot of talent in CA and out west. There’s not a lot of competition tho unless you want the Oregon weather

If they truly are overspending far and above market value...how does that manifest itself in team culture. How does that effect striving when the players have already financially made it? Does it lead to players reverting back to a country club atmosphere, which is what Texas itself descended into in the last years of Mack Brown?
