2026 Derrek Cooper 5* RB/ATH from Chaminade Commits to Texas

Homie, I was literally one of, if not the 1st one to sound alarms about NIL. I specifically said be careful what u wish for b/c w/o any parameters or guidelines, all this will do is incentivize bag schools to be even more aggressive. Yes, we’ve landed a highly ranked player here or there; but, the vast majority r being bought by schools that have exponentially more resources than we do.

Hence, y from the jump I’ve called for reforms. It’s putting a wider gap between the haves & have nots. I don’t go by class rankings, I go by avg. recruit rankings, & the data shows the bag schools r eating the avg. recruit rankings alive since the advent of zero guidelines NIL.
People thought it would change things I said to myself what will stop the bag schools from paying more. My stupid *** had the OG glasses on and pretended “oh it’s Miami the city we have money”

City my *** cfb is the same with NIL with the same schools. When we gave up control to the sec it was lights out for cfb. We will never be back we been dormant for too long and the sec and big have too much momentum and to much legacy to overcome imo.

I put out a stat regarding how many players by position that Mario has sent to the league. Everyone focused on the big 0 for the DT position, but seemed to have glossed over the 1 at the RB position. That came just this season w Damien Martinez in the 7th Rd.

So let me expand the scope further:
Since 2015, RBs sent to the NFL by team:
Miami: 6*
-Damien Martinez (7th Rd)
-DeeJay Dallas (4th Rd)
-Travis Homer (6th Rd)
-Mark Walton (4th Rd)
-Marquez Williams (7th Rd)*
-Duke Johnson (3rd Rd)

*Williams was designated as a FB

Texas: 6
-Jaydon Blue (5th Rd)
-Jonathan Brooks (2nd Rd)
-Keilan Robinson (5th Rd)
-Bijan Robinson (1st Rd)
-Roschon Johnson (4th Rd)
-D’Onta Foreman (3rd Rd)

Here’s the difference: 5/6 Texas RB draftees from the past decade are all from Sarkisian while 1/6 of our RB draftees r from Mario. To further complicate matters, & I highlighted this in another thread when Sark was hired: He has a RB friendly system. If u don’t think he’s not leveraging TF about of his RB -> Success Rate + UT’s $$, then we’re not paying attention.

HOPEFULLY, we have something in our back pocket to come out on top in this recruiting battle. Again, from an optics standpoint, we need it (pause).
I Guess If You Say So GIF

This is not true at all. Lol

1. Texas won the Natty in 2005, played for another in 2009, & have recently been back to back CFP participants.
2. While it’s true UT’s classes has outranked ours over the past 25 yrs, it’s also true we’ve held our own more than you think:

2000: UT #6 / Miami #7
2001: Miami #8 / UT #11
2002: UT #1 / Miami #5
2003: Miami #4 / UT #8
2004: Miami #3 / UT #9
2005: Miami #9 / UT #13

2006: UT #6 / Miami #12
2007: UT #3 / Miami #13
2008: Miami #1 / UT #8
2009: UT #6 / Miami #16
2010: UT #2 / Miami #14
2011: UT #4 / Miami #33
2012: UT #2 / Miami #10
2013: Miami #14 / UT #17
2014: Miami #12 / UT #17

2015: UT #10/ Miami #27
2016: UT #7 / Miami #22
2017: Miami #12 / UT #25
2018: UT #3 / Miami #8
2019: UT #3 / Miami #27
2020: UT #9 / Miami #16
2021: Miami #11 / UT #15
2022: UT #5 / Miami #16
2023: UT #3 / Miami #7
2024: Miami #4 / UT #6
2025: UT #1 / Miami #14
2026: TBD
They have won 1 **** championship in my lifetime (thanks to a based Vince Young) while owning the supposed alleged top football state (i dont believe it) and spending more than EVERYBODY BEFORE NIL.....

They are easily the most under ahcieving program in America.

When u say played in the mnc in 09 thats graded on a slide?. that game was over in the first half.

My brother in christ they even had years where they didnt have players drafted. lol they arent on a slide like miami or usc.

We have sucked...but they have sucked while actively trying and being on third base......um admin has been running a ponzi scheme for some time.

good post!

I dont know if we are going to really get those high high picks in marios sytstems cause he loves a rb by committee approach.

Getting guys like cooper though from a physical standpoint though typically leads to high draft status when you get up to 225+ and still clocking 4.4's

That’s what happens when u have Nat’l media throwing dirt on our names. I don’t live in hyperboles, I live in realities. Their fears is part media driven part not respecting Mario as a recruiter so the “assume” we spend all day long.

At the end of the day that oil tycoon $$ is heavier; that church $$ is heavier, that alumni 100k+ base alumni base “donations” r heavier. Those r factz

You forgot to add the running backs from. Oregon

Cooper resembles former UM back James Stewart in terms of measurables.

Hard to say this far out. They are still going to try and flip Cooper if he commits to Texas. I don’t see the contract being an issue there if he changes his mind.

This isn’t the main reason (we need to win more and recruit better), but I heard Cooper likes Texas’s depth chart better next year. They have missed more than I thought at that position.
lol..Texas is far deeper at RB than Miami…a total failure if Canes miss on Cooper.

I don’t think that’s the main reason at all. I only mentioned it because they (and I) were surprised to hear that.
So what he’s saying is Lyle and Pringle are better than Baxter and Gibson who were both hyped to the moon and our lowly 4* guys scare him 😂.
