D'Eriq King added to SMU staff

Good for him. He'll have the opportunity to work and learn.

SMU has become a team all canes fans root for thanks to Rhett.

Not to take away from DK because I think this is absolutely excellent news, and I think leadership is a calling for him. Just an exceptional young man, with a bright future ahead of him.

Having said that, I’m a cane and I don’t root for anybody but the canes. I really don’t give a **** how SMU does.

I wish everyone on there well, especially DK, but as far as RL - he was a Miami employee but is no longer. So, good luck to him but I don’t really care one way or the other how he does, and won’t be “rooting” for him, or SMU. Again, other than wishing all the ex-canes on there to do well, they could go 0–12 for all I care.

Why King is not not on the Ravens or Eagles roster is beyond me.

If you couldn't tell, it ****es me off to no end that he's not in the NFL. He's better than a lot of other cats out there right now.
I don't think he's an NFL quarterback but some team could try to use him like his XFL team did as a red zone/goal line QB. Having a legit run threat inside the red zone really stresses a defense. He had 9 total touchdowns as his team's backup quarterback. It would probably never happen in the NFL because the starter would likely throw a fit if he was replaced in scoring situations but in a pure X's and O's mindset, it could be an effective option for teams with slow quarterbacks.

THANK U!

Smart move, start young, coaches son I think.. Coaches pay is great nowadays, he already overcame the hardest part which is get your foot in the door, now its time to learn and grind..
The pay only becomes great if you climb. Outside of the elites, it's amazing how little most of these guys make, especially if you are a position coach. I'm happy King is chasing his dream, dude was destined to become a coach, and I wouldn't be shocked if he became an OC/QB coach within 5-6 years. He's going to move up quickly, especially if he's able to relate to kids and recruit.

his 2020 season was low key one of the greatest all time by a miami qb
100000%

It’s a shame we couldn’t get a full 2020 or 2021 with him at QB. While I admire his speedy offseason recovery effort before the opener VS Alabama, it was clear he wasn’t 100% after the ACL tear in the Cheez-It Bowl. **** really ruined what could have been. I have a whole new perspective on some of these lesser bowl games after that injury.

I joked at the very beginning of last season that, based on the one drive during the Spring game a couple years ago, Mario should have taken King as OC over Gattis.

In time, I think that might turn out to have been a lucky guess.

Exactly.

Then again, any Middle School football player would have called better plays than Gaddass.
