DEONTE REYNOLDS 2015 JUCO NT is emerging as a potential UM addition to the 2015 class. It seems UM's dline recruiting strategy under Al Golden will be to every year bring a mixture of JUCO and Prep players especially at the NT position. This year's JUCO NT prospect could be Contra Costa CC's Deonte Reynolds who at 6'5" 325lbs has a very good combination of power and athleticism to provide an inside pass rush while collapsing the pocket. An despite being Tall, Reynolds rarely loses leverage at the point of attack since plays with good bend flexibility in his base, which is a conern with NT's over 6'3".

The former class of 2012 Pinole Valley HS player from northern California flew under the radar to some extent in high school getting interest from Pac 12 schools ( UW, ASU, and Colo) but only being ranked a 2 star despite being named to the 2012 California All Star game, where he toar up the competition. So now fast foward two years and as a JUCO player he is gaining more exposure and interests from across the country. So far he has offes from Ariz ST, Kansas St, Wash, Wash St, Boise St. , and Maryland. Other schools who have yet to offer but are showing interest in the 2015 JUCO player are Miami and OU.

Washington is a team to watchout for with this young man, he originally named them his leader in 2012 but then he enede up at JUCO and they recently had a staff change, but he was also recruited by the boise St staff that just came over to Washington so there is an innate familiarity with them.

As for UM he likes the DT legacy here and has serious interest according to this CS article.

His Freshman year JUCO highlights are impressive to say the least ( what else can you say about a 5+ min highlight video for Nose Tackle) and for the two gap system Miami runs he would a good fit, if he can get his academic's in order to qualify for UM admission.

I wish we could find a late 2014 DT from Juco....plus a power forward for Coach Larranega. (I don't mean the same guy for both--just my wish list).

There is Jeremiah Ledbetter who will visit UM at some point this summer.

An there is JUCO NT Todd Peat that is still looking for a school to offer him, even at this late date.

An then there are kids who will have to change schools at the last minute. But I would like to see signee Joe Brown get worked out at NT rather than OL, possibly even red shirt him. This would allow UM to bring in Ledbetter as a DT rather than a NT. This would allow UM to also bring in Todd Peat as a NT for immediate impact along with Wyche. Then add Reynolds as an option for the 2015 and this would solve UM's depth problem at NT moving foward for the next 4 years by providing a mix of redshirt players ( Jenkins, Brown, and Fines) combined with mature JUCO players. Also in 3 years when UM's 9 scholarship reductions will be at it's peak we just won't replace heurtelou and Wyche roster spots for 1 year. At that point we would have a NT rotation of Jenkins R-jr, Brown R-jr, Fines R-Soph, and possibly Reynolds SR.

Our staff should use Paranos as a consultant when it comes to DT because what we're doing now isn't cutting it.
