Deon preaching on the state of Florida football.

And I guess you don't understand that playing on stacked teams doesn't make a kid "soft". Going by that logic, the 80's, 90's, & early 2K Canes were "soft"...dumb.

He is saying it is easy for Miami HS teams to beat out of state teams because they allow transfers. Who is going to win? A team from dallas that only allows kids to play on that team that live within a qaurter mile of the school or the team from Miami that is made up of all the studs in the entire city? That is not to say texas kids are better at football or tougher, but saying a Miami public school beating a texas public school means Miami pumps out better kids is false.

That's why most of the powerhouse programs in other states are private schools.

That is true, but it is also not as easy to build a super team as it is in Miami. Very few of these schools give football scholarships like IMG does. Now I know a bunch of kids who ended up playing for the NJ private schools. They do give under the table(illegal) scholarships to elite players from the hood, but less than 5 kids per team are receiving these so most of the real good kids from the hoods are stuck playing for their local HS. If they were able to just pull all of those kids and stack them on the same team and not having to worry about money or legality these teams would be significantly better.

They're technically not allowed to give "scholarships" here either but schools like St.Thomas Aquinas and American Heritage find ways to get kids enrolled at "discounted" tuition rates. A lot of the times it means giving the kid a part time "job" at the school where he can "work" off portions of his tuition costs. Notice my usage of quotation marks. The top level kids are often given the equivalent of a free ride but I've heard about all kinds of arrangements for the lesser talented kids. Everything from no interest loans to a kid's parent taking a part time cafeteria or janitorial position to cover costs. The caveat is, a lot of these kids sign on to play at STA but find out they're no longer top dog on their program and end up on the bench getting no attention from colleges. If they try to transfer back to their public high school, they get hit with a bill for their full tuition. It's like signing to play at Bama, finding out you'll never see the field and when you ask for a transfer, Nick Saban hitting you with a bill for your time at the school.

I agree 100%. I read another poster say that IMG is allowed to give schollys which is why they cant compete in the state playoff. I am not sure if that is true or not. I can only speak for the private schools up in NJ such as Don Bosco where Al quadin went to school. The real elite kids such as AQM where given full rides under the table, but it was really only a handful of kids because they are worried about getting busted. Where as one of the elite Miami public schools can load up the roster and not have to worry about any of the kids paying because the school is free. Which puts these schools at a massive disadvantage compared to free schools that are also able to recruit.

Except the majority of any college football team, Miami included, is never going to the NFL. The difference between good teams and average teams is depth.

Nobody is complaining about our best players. It's the 2nd and 3rd tier players, the ones that make up our depth, that are too soft.

Back in the day, South Florida 3-stars used to contribute towards winning. Even if they weren't going to the NFL, they brought a certain attitude and work ethic that made the rest of the team better.

Today, the South Florida 3-star is the punchline of many jokes - they are clearly overrated and they have a diva mentality.

It is what it is.
You don't know WTF you're talking about. Not much else to say.

Yeah it wasn't always like this. This idea of kids being able to transfer freely to whatever public school they want is still pretty new. When I was in high school (long *** time ago) you went to your local school unless you were in some type of magnet program. You'd hear about kids playing at schools they weren't zoned for but it was usually due to a family member using their address as the kid's full time residence. It wasn't a free for all like it is now where schools can build super teams and traditional powers lose all their talent to them. I'm not crazy about it because it leads to a mercenary type attitude among local players and guys never deal with adversity because they can just jump to another school if they don't like their current situation. I mean you see some of these Dade recruits who went to 3 different high schools in 4 years it's crazy.

Those out-of-state teams are loaded too!

Florida teams aren't traveling out of state to play regular old neighborhood schools. LOL

And the NFL says that Florida pumps out better kids. We have more kids in the NFL than Texas and California despite having millions less in population.

The state of Florida produces more elite players than any other state...

For the most physical sport on the planet...

But our kids are soft. LMAO

Is this thread for real?

****** Georgia, Alabama, LSU...**** the whole SEC...come down here in droves to recruit our kids. But they're soft.
Nick Saban loves him some soft Florida football players, so much so that he flies a ****** helicopter around the state to recruit them.

LMAO. You MF's are retarded.

Yet most of Sabans players are not from SF are they...yet all these other schools without FL players winning

Buford (GA) has been blowing Georgia teams out, scoring 45+ every week. They have 3 nationally ranked Offensive Linemen and are loaded with D1 kids. Deerfield Beach drove up to Georgia and shut that **** down.

Then the following week they played Westlake (ATL GA) who's only loss is to Grayson, and they blew their *** out 40-16.

Matter of fact, there was like 5 or 6 Florida schools in GA that weekend and they all won except Gibbons.

You MF's are on crack.
And most Florida teams are accomplishing this with low funding, terrible facilities and poor coaching.

I never said Florida doesn't produce better kids. My point was just because Central beats some school in Texas that isn't able to build these super teams that doesn't prove anything. A public school that can recruit and have kids come for free is always going to have an advantage over public schools that can't recruit or private schools that require kids to pay.

And again...

THE FLORIDA TEAMS AREN'T TRAVELING OUT OF STATE TO PLAY SCRUB PROGRAMS. They're playing other programs that are loaded.

I understand that. The point still stands. If Texas allowed all of their public school kids to transfer to the same school these already loaded teams would be significantly more loaded than they already are. That is 100% fact. It wont change who puts out more NFL talent, but it would change the outcome of these out of state HS games.

I would be interested to see a state roster breakdown of the top 5 teams. Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU, UGA etc.
