I’d agree. No doubt a championship team can be assembled with Florida kids. The key is finding the Bandys and Jaquan’s, landing more of the Campbells, Surtains, etc, and coaching them all up in a way that fits their strengths.

The last 10 games have nullified all the positive momentum we had from richts first season and a half

I loved his point about one sport specialization. There are dozens of studies that say kids playing multiple sports are more likely to succeed in their primary sport.

It might surprise you if you take a look at where the 22 starters from on our last title team, and argued best team of all time are from. Certain posters are guilty of undervaluing the contribution to our success of non south Florida kids. It is about getting the right South Florida and Florida kids, not getting enough South Florida and Florida kids.
 
The caliber of coaching is up in other states. It takes a kid 2 years of college coaching to catch up with kids from better coached states.

One of Richt's white knight fans negged me when I said bring back Moffitt. Go look at LSU practices and compare them to ours. Richt is so gassed on these mat drills that he has never seen what a real, real practice looks like that literally burns out your entire body, mind, and soul. **** I miss that dude being here.

If only Tommy Moffit was not from Louisiana and was born in Miami....he would still be here. Best SC coach we’ve ever had. Made an instant impact as soon as Butch brought him in. That’s another thing...Butch fired the SC he inherited from Dennis brought in Moffit

Him and Coach O were good dudes here. In the end, that LA tradition came a knocking and he's home. I truly miss Moffitt.

Yeah best we have had. You could see the change as soon as he got here. I remember reading when he took the lsu job how much he loved it here but he couldn’t turn down his home team. I’m sure we’d were cheap about counter offering as well.

Can’t remember how many years he stuck with the S/C inherited from Dennis but Butch obviously evaluated after a few seasons and made a change. Same with his first DC. How refreshing...a coach that puts his assistants job performance above their friendship.

I agree with what plies is saying, but how is plies going to call someone soft while talking in a screechy whining voice like a bltch who just found out her man is cheating. Also, plies has been exposed multiple times for being a soft litte bltch. Even Jamie fox called him a *****.
 
Part of it has to do with it being so easy to get kicked out of school now. I know in my high school we had a few kids in my year that could have been stud D1 basketball players. Kids that were keeping up with Kyrie Irving in HS even though they were younger than him and none of them made it through HS. They all got kicked out of school for fighting or other charges. These kids were tough as nails and would spend countless hours after practice playing at the local courts in 0 degree weather. Even when the lights would go out they would break into the circuit box and turn the lights back on. I heard stories from the guys I know that went to HS in the 80s, 90s, and 00s and the **** they got away with would get you locked up now. So I am sure there are a lot of tough south Florida dogs that just didn't make it through HS.

Also, how do you expect these kids to be straight savages when most of them are coming out of private schools and aren't surrounded by things that make them tough. The worst thing for most of these kids is getting home and their internet is down. I follow these guys on IG and most of the players when they go home chill with a bunch of straight bltches. Kosi is an exception, but most of them hang out with a bunch of softies.

Guys like Jerome brown where probably worried about making it home alive after practice in HS. Miami had about 550 murders during his Senior year in HS. Navaughn had exactly 55 his senior year. I doubt he was worried at all about staying alive and was more worried that his mom would have his favorite brand of cookies ready for him with a warm glass of chocolate milk.

Two reasons for "soft" :
1. 7 on 7 football
2. allowing players to transfer from school to school
High school coaches, 7 on 7 teams organizers/coaches, HS administrators kowtowing to 17 year olds to come to my school/team.
Don't worry about going to class, we'll get you an SAT score, graduate you early, there even a story out there about payment made to a player.
You want to know why they're soft, they've been getting their a#@ kissed by adults too long.
 
It’s the coaching.

You got to put hot sauce and pepper in a dogs food to make him mean (practice with intensity and under stress to strengthen resolve)

Instead, Richt and his mignons feeds puppies filet mignon and puppy chow.
