Help needed for family of Miami Hurricanes safety Deon Bush********* | Canes Watch

If you don't have the chance to read the article, the cliff notes are that his uncle needs a kidney transplant because of cancer. If you are O+ and have an extra one to spare, please contact Joshdarrow@miami.edu to get tested to see if you are a match. I'm no doctor, but I'm guessing if you are Rh-negative (meaning you are O-) you may also be a possible donor (any MD reading this please correct me if I am wrong).

My mistake, they didn't list cancer as the need for the transplant.
 
I wish the guy luck. Kidneys don't always take and even if they do he'll most likely be in the same position some years down the road. Most people don't know that when you have a kidney transplant, they don't take out the failed kidney, but just attach the new one. Those who've had multiple kidney transplants have their original kidney and however many they've received via transplant.
 
Rarely do they do an organ transplant while someone is fighting cancer. Usually they address the cancer first then once it has been eradicated they will do the transplant.
