Dent slips up

Lol Just to play devil's advocate you guys dont think these kids read these boards about how he's playing the bag game? No proof but sounds to me like a kid trying to stir people up.

Knowing that bags are real and knowing that we are at an obvious disadvantage given our financials as a private school, small alumni base, etc. why do we even care about football? I still do obviously, but some days it just seems like we'll have to try so much harder to keep up with these big bag schools like Bama, Clemson, Georgia... Like it it feels impossible to overcome sometimes, seeing some of the big targets like TS TS #2, PS2, etc. leave to take the money and all we can do is watch knowing that they left because one of those schools that is somehow entitled enough to afford and get away with cheating did it. ****'s depressing mane.

One thing that has always drawn me to the Canes is the underdog factor. It sucks to lose these recruiting battles but that makes it so much better when we winning. Do I like losing games and recruiting battles? **** no. But there is no way in **** I’d ever stop loving this U just because we have to try harder. Have you heard the news? It’s GREAT to be a Miami Hurricane.

Because Miami was NEVER built by 5 stars. Miami was built by high 3 stars and 4 stars from South Florida, Florida, and several other pieces from other states. Not to mention, last year we hit on many elite players. 2020 looks the same. Recruit and develop athletes who are dogs and have a chip on their shoulders.

It's always been like this. I don't know why fans are in their feelings all of a sudden. Miami's going to have to adapt. It's as simple as that.

I can respect that. Just kills me when kids like Stevenson don't appreciate that and take the money and leave. I mean... I guess I'd have to think about it pretty **** hard too lol, but still.

To be fair, you have no idea how you would react to the offers these kids are getting. Georgia and Bama are outbidding each other and are offering rates we probably couldn’t imagine for these kids. Worst part is the NCAA isn’t doing anything.

It really is. I’m surprised no alumni of other universities that probably work in the fbi or doj haven’t got fed up with this and ****ed off the One wrong guy to take action
THats what I’m saying. The alumni of the SEC schools like Tennessee and miss state are ****ed cause they have to play them every year but they can’t snitch cause they’re doing it too.

That's not true at all. It's never taken IRS involvement anywhere in the past. It only takes a snitch or two.

Mark Emmert has blissfully stood aside and watched the large state schools openly pay athletes. MIami is the only school that he tried to decimate. Shapiro's total contributions did not even total what Alabama places in one of their 'bags', let alone a decade's worth of recruiting. Texas and Texas A&M are paying out millions, and Georgia pays more than $250,000 for some athletes.

Emmert tacitly approves of certain schools paying their athletes. Until the Federals decide that tax avoidance has hit a massive scale, this practice will continue. [I am convinced that basketball is the "training" ground for footbal...]

You don’t get it and that’s okay.

A snitch cannot unveil the payments......... The schools have Foundations and the mission of the foundations is the "betterment of the university, etc...". The foundations pay non affiliated personnel to make the actual payments. Also, these foundations build museums for the school, fund scholarships, construct buildings..... It would be impossible to unearth the football payments without a warrant.

"Bama has paid out at least $10 million since Saban arrived with zero repercussions... How is that possible.......

The FBI's coming for basketball. As you pointed out, the back-end deals for these athletes in basketball don't even come close to football given the revenue generator that football is compared to basketball.

But as you mentioned, basketball was merely the warm up. I don't know when the hammer will fall, but the government's coming. This revolves around money, and when that's the case, the government's ears perk up every time.

If you watched Last Chance U season 1 the DL scrub that went to Nichols State or some ****** *** school like that was on camera essentially asking for money.

If he expected cash then everyone does.

I agree. There are at minimum 30 teams paying athletes and their families. If MIchel received $200,000 in cash, then prices now have to be much higher than that. Assuming average payments of $50,000 per team and per player, and 25 recruits per team per year, which is conservative, implies $37.5 million in total annual payments for these 30 teams. That is sizable tax avoidance............. Alabama has been actively executing these payments since Saban's first year. Am sure that over the past decade, Alabama has made payments in excess of $20 million.... Julio Jones cost them a vertifiable fortune. He hated his home state and has never returned. He does love Atlanta, though.

Am in shock that the IRS is not attacking these programs more ardently....

While I agree with you, times have changed. We're not going to get away with that so easily anymore when other teams have similar and or better resources. Difference back then was teams couldn't out-athlete us, now they're cherry-picking the top kids down here PLUS the top-kids in other states.

If South Florida is weak or doesn't have a bunch of talent then our recruiting going to suffer, see current class. 2020 is strong because SF is strong. The staff has to find a way to adapt to the current climate so that when Florida has a down cycle or kids are looking elsewhere, it still doesnt hurt the outlook of the team.
