One thing to look at with the hire of Richt is that all of the candidates that were either interviewed (Davis, Mullen, Schiano) or ones talked about (Strong, Cristobal) no other school wants or is after in hot pursuit. The one guy that actually had demand (Richt) is the guy that we landed. There is a reason nobody else is talking with the others and hats off to our administration for not settling and actually being aggressive enough to compete and get the guy that everyone wanted. Nice to see us actually want it again.

I'm fairly certain Strong and Mullen would have jobs if they were available.

Schools may not be jumping at the opportunity to pay them $5MM and $4MM, respectively, but they would hire those guys if they were available.

things can still change, however, Cristobal still at Bama with little noise around him, Butch still at ESPN, Schiano was taken in an assistant role. You always want to look at the pool you are dealing with not the wish list. The same way you see Trestman lasted 2 years with Bears and Edsall was canned before Golden gives you an idea if you made the right choice or not. In the 2010 case all 3 candidates were strike outs. What is really encouraging with Richt is that he has options of a staff that wants to work for him with the school giving him the money to do so. Already posted it elsewhere but we see Melvin, D'Onfrio and Williams going to the bottom feeders of the Big 10. Quite telling on how they are valued, belong and reflection of results.
