Defensive stats???

The D stats may actually improve especially if we avoid turn-overs on O. App St isn't a good passing team and is only an average running team which plays to our strength with our DL. Until Harris gets back to 100%, our DL is only average at pass rushing. With his return it bumps us up just a little. Lucky for Miami, they can blitz App St a ton much like FAU & FAMU. GT is a simple X&O know your assignments game. FSU is when we will truly know IF this Miami D is even somewhat back.

Hopefully the passing game turns it around as that will help this team win those big games in October and November.

Ray Jenkins looks like a potential all-acc candidate through 2 games.

Was also GREAT to see Owens out there. He looked fearless to me.

Agreed on both. If Owens is back to full speed, would love to see him sub in for Shaq on obvious passing downs until Shaq gets some better experience and really the dude just needs a break. A healthy Owens/Pinkney duo isn't as optimal as a healthy Grace/Owens, but it's closer to where we need to be. Pinkney has straight up flashed instincts in the passing game.

Outside of Jaquan because of his nickel skill set, Jenkins is probably our most important Safety contributor because he actually has range and anticipation. Been a big fan of Jenkins and think he can play in the NFL. Hoping he gets his chance to shine now under an appropriate system for his skills.

I wish Jenkins would stop missing tackles though...Last year's missed TFL turned into a Cincy TD...now he misses another TFL on FAU and it turns into Michael Jackson getting trucked and a FAU TD.

I feel like if Driskell was more accurate and FAU didn't have some drops, that game could've been much closer.

Just imagine if they generated a few more turnovers too, that game really could have gotten scary in a hurry.

Something I haven't seen yet but hope to is pass-rushers, especially those coming on blitz, getting their hands up when they're not gonna reach the QB in time. Opponents are going to try using our aggressive blitzing against us by setting up the screen pass, so the guys need to get those hands up to block/tip passes or at least obscure the QB's field of vision.

DJax seems like the only guy who consistently gets his hands up.

It was very encouraging to see Owens back out there. Based on Pete's earlier reports, I wasn't expecting to see him for a few more weeks. He can be a huge help with his experience.

Agree except for getting steam rolled by fau running back for the td. He's been exceptional other than that play

I remember when people wrote off Brandon Meriweather after getting trucked by the WVU rb in 2003. He went on to become an All-American and still plays in the NFl.
