Defensive rankings through 6 games

7th overall defense. Top 20 in almost every category but one. Let’s not celebrate. Rather let’s focus on the only low ranked stat and argue about CB1, CB2 and CB3 being out most of the year and whether or not that’s the reason.

We had a Freshman All-American safety playing CB the last several games.

Facts 7th overall defense despite all the injuries .. but all I see is mopes making up narratives as usual. 🥱 😴

Again of you want to win #6, pretending the 90th rated pass D is good enough is obviously foolish

Considering you posted a strawman argument graphic earlier, who said 90th is "good enough"? I'm not looking for a long back and forth - I think you're an alright dude (pause I guess?). I find it peculiar, hence my question.

Our zones have not been good under Heatherman no matter who has played.

We played pretty well at times in man and split coverages last year. Our base spot drop style cover nobody 3 high gets picked apart pretty well. Far less pressure this year amplifies it a bit

the problem with our pass D is even Stanford from game 1 when we were 100% or close was still picking us apart

our psycho DC needs to figure this out ASAP. Only 2 more games before ND.
I think when it comes to surrendering the passing yards its more scheme than anything. We really dont challenge receivers. We are fine playing off and making the tackle after the completion. Stopping the run is whats most important and we are good at that. Now if teams keep passing, eventually with our pass rush we will create negative plays. Its not pretty giving up so many passing yards but it has been working so far.

We typically start games looser and teams score on us early. We then clamp down as Heatherman adjusts. Im sure that was going to happen against Stanford. Now with all the injuries, we basically can't clamp down the way we want to.

I understand we have injury problems at corner, our secondary problems are much bigger than that. Apart from injuries, we have not generated the same amount of pressure as last year, Thornton ( and I'm not trying to pick on him) is a huge drop off from Keionte Scott
