Defensive pressure numbers

Defensive line did a really good job getting pressure against UNC in the second half. We don’t have that dominant pass rusher but we have guys who get into the backfield pretty consistently. Our corners are trash though. Much worse than linebackers.

We don’t blitz much and I do think that’s a problem. Lack of ability to tackle and no speed at LB probably hurt our ability to. We get pressure with front 4 only, out of necessity really

Stevenson and JW had interceptions against Kenny Pickett but neither of them has sniffed one this year unless I'm not remembering. Frierson, Blades, Avantae don't have a role while we rank near dead last in yards allowed through the air. If Evan Stewart played A&M would have lit us up. Addae stinks and I don't like him.
What I see on the field is not good and Addae is responsible but how did he engineer those statistical turnarounds at WVU and UGA if he wasn't a good coach. What am I missing here? There must be a logical explanation.

Bill Belichick says it best...."Do Your Job".

You start worrying about the cornerback stopping the 10 yard out and as a safety someone done snuck in ur backdoor for a 70 yard Go route TD.

It's really not that hard. Kids thinking about making big plays instead of making "the play". Safeties need to tighten the heck up and stop worrying about anything else but what they're responsible for in coverage. Once we stopped the big plays, UNC could hardly score on us.
I keep being ****ed at Belichicks defense for allowing yardage but then I see our defense and think "Huh, maybe the Pats isn't that bad"

Against the Lions we allowed tons of yardage, but whenever it went into 4th down or the Lions had to deal with condensed spaces, a team that doesn't bust coverages and plays smart wont allow these plays to happen.

It does feel like we’re getting good pressure but just half a second away from a sack in real time

Sadly that stat should be reflective of a pretty decent team. Good lord 118th in pass yards per attempt.

Kirby letting him get away is starting to make a little sense. But Never mind recruiting, has Addae been micromanaged up until this point? His passing d’s have been solid in terms of yards per attempt wherever he’s been.

Yardage is going to be allowed. Football is designed around the QBs and the rules are enforced as such. Exhibit A and B are the phantom roughing the passer calls vs KC and ATL last weekend.

A busted coverage that nets a TD is actually worse than a turnover. And we cannot win if we turn the ball over or give up busts that go for 50+ yard TDs.
