Miami isnt playing for another 2 weeks so here's my bored Awards thread. Feel free to give your own take on these awards.

D-Player of the Year: Jaquan "The Franchise" Johnson. There were so many clutch plays made by many different players so his "Game Changing" moments isn't why I have him here....he saved our defense repeatedly throughout multiple DOWNS, in every game, all year long.

Most Improved: Michael Jackson. Don't think I need to explain that one if you've paid attention to his Career as a Cane.

Best Performing Backup: This is where I expect some arguing to begin, because I'm going with "Toolbox" Trent over Trajan Bandy.

The Silent MVP: Chad Thomas
The JR who Coach Richt should recruit: RJ McIntosh
Freshman of the Year: Trajan Bandy
Most Versatile: Chad Thomas, who made multiple plays from DE, DT, and didn't completely flop when asked to drop into coverage.

For Best Performing Backup.....I would go with Toolbox - Trent Harris......made a lot of big plays when his number was called

JJ - Amen
Bandy - kid's a starter, I don't consider him a bench player

rotational is a better way to describe, IMO

JJ played great this year and so did RJ. I think they are both 1A and 1B for MVP. The amount of times RJ caused havoc forcing a bad pass or stopping a 3rd or 4th and short is amazing.

I'll agree with all of OP's choices except McIntosh as "junior coach Richt should recruit". He's been phenomenal and I'd love to have him back but we've got capable 3 technique DTs waiting in the wings. I'd be a lot more concerned about who's going to play NT/1 tech if Norton leaves early.

I 100% agree with the Silent MVP pick. #9 was super solid and did a lot of little things that we are going to miss next year. He made some great plays but also enabled his teammates to make plays, too.

Losing Chad is going to hurt, we talk about RJ, Norton and Joe Jack a lot but I think Chad was just as good.

I agree with this, we desperately need a 6'2", 330 guy to clog the middle.

McIntosh was the best defender of the year as well as being the team's MVP.

I agree with this. It all starts up front. JJ 1-A.
If we only get 1 of McIntosh or Norton to return I would almost say Norton bc 1 he isn't as ready and 2, I think he fits better with Willis coming back. Willis is the mold of McIntosh that likes to get skinny and get to the QB. Norton a is good double team stuffer. I just think the two different styles bodes better but I would love to have all of them or just 1 back.

To much credit for Chad. He absolutly disappeared at times. He did have same great moments though. Inconsistent- which will be reflected in the draft.

Close call for Freshman OTY between Bandy and Garvin.

I'll go with Bandy because he was a significant part of the rotation and is arguably our best corner now. Garvin during spurts has looked impressive though.

I agree, would pick Bandy too, but it’s cnt hair close. Garvin made some really big plays and looked impressive.

I stop short of calling Bandy our best corner though. That doesn’t do justice to how well Young has played. They’re both real nice.

McIntosh is the best player on D imo. I think Chad is very underrated tho. Yes he didn't always finish plays when he got to the qb but he was always around the ball & was a grown man against the run. He makes plays, just not real flashy
