I know Radio isn't on the top of everyone's list, but UF during the McElwain era would have beaten a bunch of good teams if they could have scored 17 points. They had the 20th ranked defense in 2015 and 5th in 2016.

Not to mention his record here.

Total defense ranking while DC at Miami:

2001 – 6th
2002 – 7th
2003 – 2nd
2004 – 28th
2005 – 4th
2006 – 7th

I wouldn't mind Randy as the DC. However, that's all he needs to be in charge of.
 
I Blame Fake James for not having the balls to outbid LSU for their DB coach/DC. It was at moment knew it would be more of the same with this Admin. Asked yourself would Dave Aranda hire a Fuqin clown show of JAG defensive coaches that exist at tha U

Give Randy a shot at redemption. Yes, he sucked as a HC, but he was an outstanding DC. He bled orange and green, but it didn't work out. I don't like how fans crapped on him after he left, he didn't fail due to lack of trying, he failed because he was not cut out to be a HC and should never have been hired to replace Coker. Coker didn't know how to recruit, and Shannon wasn't exactly known for crushing it in recruiting.

I would like the "Randy Shannon with Miami" story to end happily.

The problem with Shannon is not the x and o’s. He will do well in that department I think.
The problem with Shannon is personnel.
Will he want autonomy in recruiting?
To pick who get recruited on defense....that has always been his undoing.
Give Randy recruiting autonomy and you will end up with 11 Glen Cooks and Romio Davis.
The term “Randy special” has validity to it.

Will Randy get to pick his own players in recruiting ??
That has always been his undoing.
 
You guys are drunk if you think Shannon would ever come back as a DC when he was **** canned as the HC.

Man I remember that game. My homie played at UM during that time. I sat in the family section with his parents and it was so sad.

Dude was a DC for 8 seasons. He fielded a top 10 defenses 6 times. He has never had a defense outside the top 30. I don’t give a shlt if he recruits Caitlyn Jenner.

I’m not going to take the time to do the research I’ll take your word for it.
I would like to see id those rankings eroded as his recruits took over.

Can’t even wrap my mind around how dumb this fan base can be bringing up Randy Shannon and his success 20 years ago. Get a grip. Florida and UCF fans hate the guy already. He gets eaten up in modern football. You really want him with 100% control of one side of the ball? This fan base is absurd about wanting retreads

20 years ago? He fielded the 5th ranked defense 2 seasons ago.
